Re: Cottam Auto Group

After a long winded battle with some factory issues, CAG is back with a new model!

It's called the Relay. An N-Class cheap runaround hatchback, perfect for anyone with a family to move. It is extremely easy to drive, and is one of the safest cars on the road today.

It has sensible styling which tailors to all tastes, and features more than adequate cooling for the nippy and economical 132hp 1.8L i4 that powers it.
This i4 engine features a VVL setup, so that more power can be squeezed from the engine while still remaining relatively economical. It took a lot of tinkering around to achieve a good balance between power, economy, and reliability. The engine uses high quality bottom end parts to increase reliability with the high redline.

So if you're in the market for a cheap family mule, look no further than the Cottam Relay. Extremely advanced safety measures have been taken to ensure you and your family's safety during any mishaps that may occur, it is highly fuel efficient, and it can be fun to drive if you push its limits.

The Relay comes in 2 trim levels. The trim level displayed above is the standard trim. The other available trim level as the Chrome Package, which features a slightly reworked front end, and chrome accents as displayed below. The chrome package also features sat-nav as standard (available with standard trim as optional extra).

Prices:
Relay with standard trim - £14,995
Relay with chrome package - £17,995

Feel free to voice your opinion!

Re: Cottam Auto Group

1000 rpm over max power might be a little much, 300-600 rpm is more common. The MTBF will increase nicely, and service cost might drop.

Try and see what it does.

Re: Cottam Auto Group

Thanks for the advice Rob, I gave it a try and it indeed did have a positive impact on MTBF. Though I wanted to have as much of a usable power band as possible which is why I had such a high rev limit.

To be honest, the Relay without the chrome looks better than with it.

Re: Cottam Auto Group

Cottam Relay Design Contest!

Yes, you read it right, I am doing a contest to redesign the look of the new Relay!

The objective is simple: You must download one of the platforms attached to this post (either the standard or chrome trim), and redesign the look as much as you want. Though it would be preferred if you could still make it recognizable as a Cottam Relay. When you have finished changing the platform, just zip it up and send it to me via PM. I will be taking entries until Saturday 21st June, so you have just about a week to get your entry sent in.

But I wont be choosing the winner...

What I'm going to do is compile all the entries into a YouTube video in which I will showcase each design (That is if it's okay with you guys, of course). The winner will then be decided through voting. People may comment on the video naming the person's design they like the best. Voting can also be cast by posting in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=4282 (NOTE: Participants cannot vote for their own design)

If anyone objects to the YouTube video idea, or does not want their forum username being mentioned online (for some reason), then I will decide on the winner myself without any voting system.

I am staying up to watch all the World Cup games tonight so I am pretty tired, so some parts of this post may be a bit confusing.
So if I have made anything sound confusing, or if you have a suggestion for the voting system/YouTube etc.. then feel free to PM me.

Here is the YouTube video where you can cast a second vote as well as a vote in the contest thread. http://bit.ly/CottamRelay
Good luck!

Re: Cottam Auto Group

Youtube is a good idea but i think you can make a poll here on the forum as well and just upload previews of each design. However, you'd have to create a new topic to do this, as far as i know.

Re: Cottam Auto Group

That poll thing sounds like a plan. It will have to be in a new topic though, but at least that will avoid cluttering up this thread.

A new topic will be up shortly.

Re: Cottam Auto Group

I think it would make more sense if you would open the poll when you have all the entries.
Edit: Never mind :D

Re: Cottam Auto Group

That's the plan, I've just made the new thread now so it's prepared for when all the entries are in. I will add the poll later when all the entries have been sent.

Re: Cottam Auto Group

And now for something that had never been attempted before by Cottam Auto Group, until 1996: A compact cheap sedan!

It's called the Cottam T3N.The sensible styling of this model is what set the pace for the styling of future models. (Totally NOT a replica of any kind...)
Image
Image
Image

The T3 model shown here is the Eco model, which features the same engine as in the Cottam Relay, but it's been messed around a little bit to create slightly more power, which will be needed more in a sedan. It's a shame I couldn't replicate the engine that matches the car this looks like (You've got to guess :P), because V6's aren't in the game yet. The revised version of the Relay engine produces a not-too-much 132hp, which results in a car that is extremely easy to drive, and is very comfortable.

The T3 Eco boasts a more than impressive 51mpg (UK), so fuel costs are not a worry. Neither is the price. This Eco model starts from just £16,000 for the base model.

I have an idea for my next model based on a very skilled drawing in the bottom corner. What do you guys think?

Re: Cottam Auto Group

sure, this car will have AMAZING handling with a nose that's longer than the wheelbase, and with the high center of gravity xD
