Re: Centauri Industries

In 1988 the Centauri Raider was the poor man's all rounder, with a low price tag, basic amenities, seatings for 5 (2 adults 3 children or 4 adults), near perfect weight distribution and a decently sporty base engine option this was a car that could do just about anything. It came in 2 flavors, the base model and the GT trim with the only major change being engine tuning. The base model averaged 30 mpg(us) on regular gas and was powered by an all aluminum 2.4 liter twin cam, throttle body injected, 4 cylinder good for 134 hp and 144 ft-lbs. the GT took that same engine and let it breath through a pair of side draft carbs and swapped in a hotter cam allowing it to reach 173hp and 155 ft-lbs on premium gas, the model takes a slight hit down to 27 mpg (us) but was able to hold it's own with Mustangs and Camaros in the quarter mile while still retaining all the utility of a family sedan, both trims feed their power to the rear wheels through a simple 5 speed gear box. The Raider has the standard Centauri rust resistant steel construction with a McPherson strut front and a live rear axle in back setup with coil springs at the corners.
Prices
Base in adjusted US $20,000
GT in adjusted US $24,000

Re: Centauri Industries

New from Centauri the Phoenix is the sports car for the common Joe, costing just $24,000 US it runs regular pump gas through it's lightweight aluminum alloy 2.2 liter V8 to produce 166hp in a car that weighs under 2400lbs, not a lot to be sure but more than enough to have a bit of fun, while still returning 44mpg. Drive it to the track on the weekends but still commute to and from work on the weekdays without a worry.

Re: Centauri Industries

At first I wondered whether the service costs would go through the roof, given that it's a mid-engined car and all, but I'm pleasantly surprised to see that it's quite reasonable! Did you use transverse layout?

Re: Centauri Industries

I did, just managed to wedge in the 2.2, as it is every time I load the car I have to tic the bore down .1mm as it doesn't want to save it. I wanted this to be affordable to run and drive by even a first time buyer. So long life tires, less aggressive brakes, standard air filters, regular 5 speed stick shift, I did spurge for twin intakes just because it's a glass top mid engine so you've gotta have something nice to look at :)

Re: Centauri Industries

After the open beta release gave us a much more indepth stat system I've found myself building cars I be looking for in real life. As such I've been desiging cars with far more importance given to utility, reliability, economy, service costs, and environmental resistance then other stats. That said I am changing the focus of Centauri Industries to creating a full Car Of The People lineup. With inspiration taken from the US mazda lineup Centauri will be offering a small 5 vehicle line, featuring a small economic hatchback, 2 sedans a compact and a midsized, 1 minvan/people carrier and finally a sport coupe. The tuning arm of Centauri will offer CPV versions of a few models as well as a revision of the Phoenix mid engined sports car. The previous model file seems to have issues with the 1410 release, so as of now consider the posted images and stats as a concept car. Life has been getting a bit busy of late so company updates will be sporadic, but the ideals I've laid out will be the driving vision behind future models.

Re: Centauri Industries

The next design being worked on is a throwback idea, once upon a time America loved it's station wagons and we here at Centauri think they still do. We are creating on a working man's wagon, built along the lines of the cult classic AMC Eagle Scout, while not yet ready for the public eye we can tell you a few details. Power is coming from a newly designed, long stroke 3.5 liter OHV V8, roughly 150 hp and 200 ft lbs go through a automatic gearbox to all four wheels. With seating for 5, good cargo room, load capacity and very decent off road capabilities make this a strong contender with the Subaru lineup. The economy is still being worked out but we are expecting to finish near 36 mpg / 6.5L/100k. Pictures and stats should go up tonight after work.

Re: Centauri Industries

A new flagship sedan, born from the Ultimate FWD contest the comet has been reborn in it's production dress, sporting a 350hp 4.0 liter V8 routed though a AWD 7 speed automatic this sedan is user friendly and returns 20mpg despite tipping the scales at over 2 tons.

Re: Centauri Industries

Due to flagging sales we have revised the Centauri Sprite, featuring reworked body panels and a reworked engine, the new model will come in a base option which will soon appear in cheeseman's small car comparison, and this the hot hatch RS model. They share the same basic underpinnings of, suspension, engine block, and design, the body is the same style however the metal used has been lighted and treated to better protect the frame, in addition the RS boasts a functional hood scoop, retuned suspension, uprated interior, a 16 valve head with asubstantial power gain to 166hp from the same naturally aspirated 1.5 liter block as the base Sprite as well as an astronomical 9000rpm redline.

Re: Centauri Industries looking for tuner

Looking for a collaborator, My current project car is "The Paladin" originally designed for the 1978 "Touch of class" challenge I have made a 2015 version, but I'd like someone to help with styling and suspension tweaks. This is a premium muscle car designed with cost, comfort, and reliability in mind. 0-60 in 5.2, the quarter mile in the mid 13's, 30mpg us, reliability over 70, all with a 6 speed automatic and a total cost just over 13k. anyone want to give it a try?

Re: Centauri Industries

After the boys from CPV were so kind as to provide GG with some "experimental" engine builds, we would be more than happy to return the favour with suspension tuning +/- styling tweaks. Just PM me a brief and I'll cook up something.

Re: Centauri Industries

I'm no good at suspension tuning (but I'll have a go anyway  ) but I'll happily try and do a re-style of your car if you'd like... PM the files and I'll give it a whirl :)

Re: Centauri Industries

The files are on my last post, it's a 4 seat muscle car so styling should not be subtle but it's no hypercar either, so in clarkson terms it should look loud but not overly shouty.
