Building a light weight car

Hi
How can a light weight car be made?
I'm struggling to create a car like a Fiat 500/Audi A1 etc
They weight little more than 1,100 kg.

When I try to create a small hatchback, with a 163kg 2.0L motor, 5 seats, super light interior, full sound proofing, premium entertainment and advanced safety, it comes to 1,400kg with quality sliders at 0. Chassis is made from corrosion resistant steel just like many small cars. I quite often see cars here that are quite light, where is the weight being saved?

I assume an Audi A1 would be the equivalent of premium entertainment and advanced safety? I know entertainment is quite heavy, but surely for a small car, premium entertainment would weigh less than premium entertainment for a full size sedan?

I think premium entertainment incurs the same weight addition regardless of the body weight. What panel materials are you using? Also, full soundproofing adds quite a bit of weight. The weight of your engine is important also, try to reach a compromise between weight and cost.

You may have to skimp on the quality of certain things. Higher quality interior and safety make for a significant increase in weight, but elsewhere, a higher quality engine, or drivetrain, may decrease the weight. The quality sliders for these parameters only correlate to absolute weight (I don't think it adjusts for the size of the frame) and the values play a role in the calculation of comfort, but otherwise it's up to you to decide what's most important for you.

I too have been struggling with making lightweight car replicas to the exact same specifications. It's up to you as to how you adjust in the context of this simulation. In this case, full sound proofing is probably a LOT more than was in those little cars (I imagine full sound proofing is like what you'd find in a Lexus LS400 or something).

Also, you should check the dimensions of your platform compared to the dimensions of the cars you're seeking to emulate to see if the scale is correct!

The A1 with the big 2.0l engines (and AWD) weighs around 1.4 tons in reality. If I build a car in Automation with AHS steel chassis and steel panels, a small 1.2 liter turbo engine, FWD, 4 seats (!), premium interior and entertainment, advanced safety and full sound insulation, I get a bit more than 1.1 tons, just a bout right. With standard steel chassis, I end up at less than 1.3 tons. I chose the last car body in the list. Overall dimension make most of the weight, so choose the right car body. I don't know where you get all the weight from, maybe upload your files so that we can take a look.

Interior weight is more for a big saloon than a small car. The game looks at the size of the passenger compartment and the number of seats and scales interior weight according to that.

So if you choose a 4 seat car, regardless if it is a hatch or the big saloon, the interior weight will increase by the same amount, depending on what package you choose, and the quality of that package.

No, if you have a big saloon with a big passenger compartment, a 4 seat interior package will be much heavier than the same interior package in a small hatchback with 4 seats.

I only have the demo, but there is no way to change the dimensions of the platform is there (eg making it narrower), short of sculpting the body by dragging the highlighted parts, is that correct?

If you make the car smaller, I believe the weight will change to reflect that.
