1200cc rally engine 400hp, 50k MTBF

Just bought Automation. This is best i got out of a 1200 4cylinder engine. It fits in any car size.

402 hp, 360nm torque and still over 50.000 MTBF so they guys can use it for rally racing or something :P
Fun fact: it has a enormous exhaust compared to the engine :D I believe it was 4.25 or something :roll:

Anyone got tips to improve? I'm kinda out of ideas.

Tone it down to maybe 300hp and ease off the quality sliders, that's enormously expensive. Try for a road going version that could be affordable ala the sti evo gt4 .

Yeah thats a good idea. I don't mind the initial costs, only 1500.. but the maintance costs lol :o

Are there any guidelines regardings costs? What would be regular for example?

ps: it'll be a cute sti car then, with only 1200cc ;D
i think i might try to make a 500cc fiat racing engine

Its the man hours/ production units that's going to cost you. 800 hours per engine means it would take 50 people 16 hours or 2 8 hour work days, to build 1 engine. Tough to mass produce with that kind of time table. As for costs try out the open beta it gives a more indepth look at the factors that will influence final ticket price. Also der bayer will be running a challenge in general chat that's going to give us a rough look at production costs he has a few sample charts up already. Go check out the ctc thread.

Look in the other engine sharing threads, there are many examples of engines that cost less but are able to get a turbo v8 producing over twice as much power as yours while being more economical and cheaper to service.

Maybe have a go at making an engine but leave the sliders at 0

Here's my take on it. Usable powerband, standard quality settings, less terrible fuel economy.

Thanks for all the input :)

I like the idea of the creating a version that matches regular production hours. Gonna try that asap. I'll keep it a 1200cc though, because i want to keep it small and a bit more realistic (as almost no cars in the EU or rally class have V8's).
Gonna try that example engine of yours too! I'm curious how you got higher costs, with the less on the quality bars. Looks strange :o

Also keep in mind these were built on different versions of the game. You'll have to get the open beta patch. That said old engines specifically turbos require a lot of reworking.

You're only looking at material costs. The higher the quality settings, the lower the material costs because of improved production techniques. But material costs are less critical than labor costs, in which case my example only requires 7% of the labor that yours does. In other words, I can build fifteen engines for every one of yours. ;)

Ow i assumed higher quality meant higher material costs
