Small But Powerful

Just thought I'd start a little thread based on smaller engines since there's about 20+ for engines as big as they come. Make'm small and make'm powerful! =)

My current favorite is my 800cc/.8L twin turbo v8 with a 12,000 rpm redline and 327hp

Re: Small But Powerful

I would imagine my 3.0 V8 producing 1000+ horsepower is applicable?

Re: Small But Powerful

Sure, actually I think it would be a good idea to set a limit of 3.0l or smaller so thanks for asking. Lets see it, sounds like a nice engine.

Here we go! Straight from the Streetable 1000 horsepower topic where it was competing with 5.5+ liter engines.

Very nice. I'm currently working on a 3.0 v8 as well. Might as well see how powerful we can get them

1200+ horsepower is possible, but I gave mine lower power in exchange for it to be more responsive.

Re: Small But Powerful

Here is the 2.9 liter ZXR engine series currently in development from CPV .

There are 2 models currently working towards production

The ZXR-1 runs on pump premium, and develops 1100hp.

Then the more hardcore ZXR-2 requires Super gas to make it's 1200hp.

And here is a look at our in house test mule, with 1400hp

Why do you never consider the reliability and economy?

MTFB is glitchy with heavy turbo use, anything over I think 300hp per liter shows 0, but when put in a car with enough cooling it shows up accurately.

Here is my entry, a 2.5L V8 called the Wyvern.

1110HP @ 2.5L makes for 444hp per litre. Conversion to Kw: 828.1Kw @ 2.5L makes for 331.2Kw per litre.

Re: Small But Powerful

I made a rotary inspired i4, I thought it'd best belong here. Also seems to be the first small engine with reasonable economy here

Weighing just 120 kgs, this engine allowed me to get 52.5/47.5 weight distribution before.

Re: Small But Powerful

Some nice motors there - but a lot of these are utter pigs in pract\icalty, just dyno queens.

I developed this for shits and giggles with a $3000 budget, 2.2L max (same capacity as an old car I had.) It had to have some kind of ingame reliability but mainly had to have a strong powerband. Torque comes on strong from ~3750rpm to max power/redline at 8500rpm which definitely satisfies the need to not drop off boost between gears on a zero yon test. ~730hp is sufficient even though it is direct injection.....google 'RS4 direct injection carbon' and check some of those nasty nasty pictures.

Around 690hp is available with MPFI and the subsequent lower CR. Both engines are designed for use on 98 octane pump fuel.

I'll have a go at a smaller economy unit later, was playing with a 0.9L but thinking of something like a 1.4L ecoboost competitor with a definite motorsport lean.
