Streetable 1000 Horsepower

For the moderately-rich man's Veyron alternative. Runs on pump gas and makes full boost from 3000 to 8000 RPM with a nice torque plateau. Passes everything but the fuel station. ;)

Great engine! but the exhaust looks a bit too wide, isn't it?

Re: Streetable 1000 Horsepower

Maybe for a naturally aspirated motor, but for turbo motors bigger is usually better, minus the weight penalty of course. In fact, a phrase sometimes used by real life turbo tuners is "the best exhaust is no exhaust" i.e. a straight dump pipe with no cats or mufflers. On this engine going any smaller than 6" reduced power. It does look a bit ridiculous and is quite heavy, though, I'll give you that.

problem i see here is that massive amount of torque in such a short time

Yeah, you'd probably want to use this in a car with all wheel drive. :D

Re: Streetable 1000 Horsepower

you got me inspired to fire this game up again

it's more expensive, has half the mtbf, and costs more to fix. I don't think any of those are major issues when we're talking about a veyron competitor though. The important bit is that it's way better for the environment and is way more fuel efficient, and will run off all but the most disgusting gasoline you can find.

you definitely win in responsiveness, but I think my more manageable torque curve is something I can live with

Re: Streetable 1000 Horsepower

2200 Man Hours?
That engine is probably more expensive than the Veyron's.
Your octane rating is incredibly low.

Also, going below ~130 Emissions isn't worth it in Hrs.

EDIT: I'm having some issues with my image host, so the image will be low quality until I resolve them.

Re: Streetable 1000 Horsepower

Here's a different take on the same concept. Bigger and lower revving with over double the efficiency. Still using standard quality settings.

Re: Streetable 1000 Horsepower

This is my attempt at this, I didn't think turbos were necessary for this so my engine is currently the largest here... :|

However, my engine is very cheap to produce and service considering its displacement, while also having a high MTBF rating.

Mmmm, love me some straight six. I think your turbo is borked, though. The boost curve shouldn't look like Mt. Fuji. ;)

I was using the default race turbocharger. This is the engine after some tweaking. Got it down to 91 octane fuel and up to 1040HP. Lost some Torque unfortunately as well as some MTBF rating.

I think I have the quietest engine in the thread and now definitely the most powerful in terms of HP. I do find it odd that its 6.5l and it weighs less then the 6l engine.

Re: Streetable 1000 Horsepower

Much better. It looks like your 6.5 is lighter because it has doesn't have variable valve lift or a liquid intercooler, both of which are quite heavy. Different bore/stroke ratios can also cause such weight discrepancies.

Soon we can put these into cars and see how they turn out performance wise.
