Automation Power Challenge

i have no idea what Kubboz is doing and why the competition has gone silent

im proposing of overhauling the structure of the competition and giving it a little more of a challenge to it

1st i would like to make a comity of at least 3 people, that could gather at a given point on the TS3 server (http://automationgame.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1421) and talk through the engines
2nd making an actual tournament ladder, that in the end would give some useless prize, like a forum status or some ridiculous badge
3rd involving lot more people from begginer, to amateur, to pro and splitting them up into categories

just my thoughts, if anyone is interested let me know here or through PM

PS. would love to hear some input from Kubboz, Juno and Darkjedi

i agree. a comitee of at least 2 should be elected and the competition should have more challenge to it.

things i propose:
1: having 1 or 2 categories depending on the number of people that wish play this. (pro and amateur)
2: depending on category , it should have more parameters to it like fuel efficiency, weight, cost, etc
3: separate topic with the entire ladder or at least 1-20, i agree with prizes as well.
4: topic made sticky.
5: (if the devs agree with this) making a demo challenge and the winner will get a free NA version of the game

vote of 3 or more really makes most sense in my opinion,

as i mentioned the categories
begginer will be restricted only to the demo version
amateur/pro will get different assignments and will be restricted to preorder versions of the game

i would love to gather in that TS server and have a talk about this because we can't really decide on anything typing forum posts

speaking of a giveaway price for the best engine builder in demo category - it's a hell of an idea, hope that devs will back that idea

I am no good at these power challenges...my engines ALWAYS fail to meet their marks...but it seems a good idea I mean if we had access to a Team Speak Server for a standard user that would be helpful so we can compare notes I do like well videos on this game you know the engine showcases thats what I do :)

Juno i want you to be a part of the comity or just a passer by that gives a helping hand from time to time

i can't really pull this one off on my own, i need at least 2 more people for the job, if not all 3
Kubboz did a really good job, but the thing needs more of a challenge and a little bit more scale

I would say a good first step is to gauge general interest before you put much effort in. When the challenges were running at their best we had only like 15 participants, which doesn't warrant all the effort. So I would propose a good first step is to make a poll and ask "Would you participate in weekly challenges on a regular basis?".

If the response is positive and bigger than it has been before I'd say: go for it and put in some effort in getting it designed right. If interest is on pretty low levels, I'd wait for the engine designer multiplayer mode, which will solve all these issues anyway. :) Also, it will be awesome.

Cheers!
