Re: Engine Upload

Created a series of 4.6L engines.

From top to bottom:

1. Base variant. 1 camshaft per bank (SOHC) for reduced cost, 4 valves per cylinder, regular intake with 1 throttle body per cylinder bank, short cast iron exhaust headers, and heavy flywheel for smoothness and greater lifespan. Runs on regular unleaded fuel (87 AKI/91RON)

2. Mid-grade. 2 camshafts per bank (DOHC) for less friction, performance intake, tubular headers, slightly lighter flywheel, and slightly increased rev limit. Runs on premium unleaded fuel (91AKI/95RON)

3. Top-grade for now. DOHC, individual throttle body per cylinder, lightest flywheel, long tubular headers, higher rev limit. Runs on premium unleaded.

Re: Engine Upload

Total output. I'm not going completely all-out here and making max displacement max power engines running on 100ROn fuel.

Re: Engine Upload

I've found up to a point that a single large diameter exhaust makes more power, until you run out of piping size. I only use duals if I'm going for stupid power (1200+hp), or trying to be really quiet (4 mufflers rather than 2).

My attempt at the Mercedes-Benz M113 engine as seen under the hood of the E430.

Re: Engine Upload

Funny, I made the AMG version of that same motor found in the C43 last night. It's a very conservative tune.

1969: Peak of the musclecar war. Grey-Skies Industries releases a mass produced 10 liter (610 cubic inch) V8 with 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. By 1970, the entire Los Angeles basin resembles the surface of Venus.

Re: Engine Upload

I made the 6.0L AMG Hammer V8. The hard part was actually getting the power in line with the motor, even with mechanical injection it wanted to make much more.

Re: Engine Upload

anyone notice how OHV engines start to run out of revs around 6200-6300rpm regardless of the cam and timing? I was trying to make a Z28 camaro engine which revs to 7k rpm and makes max power in the higher 6000s but i couldn't get it up there without destroying the power curve due to this limitation.
