Re: A 1980's 'what if' motor for Group C/IMSA GTP

Well, I could be wrong yet again but I believe that motor was a quad turbo...which is in my book several degrees of insanity, but there we are.
That...and preferebly sooner than later, I need to draw a chassis to go with what engines I've designed so far.
EDIT.
There's a reason why I've been trying rather hard to make an engine from 1981 and go from there. While IMSA GTP rules were likely getting put to use by 1980s, if I'm not mistaken, Group C was introduced into 1981 but implemented in 1982.
But a key reason is because 1983 was the last year the world endurance championship for Group C tackled the full Nurburgring (before taking on later the shorter circuit). So I want to have an engine that at least started development plans in 1980 so by 1983, it would be at least in theory, is competitive against other cars then and going on forward.
One specific range of engines and cars in mind is the Porsche 956 and later 962, the latter which did compete in IMSA GTP.
It's also why I picked a larger displacement besides the fact V6, F6 (or anything in 6 cylinders that isn't an inline configuration), was unavailable, at least in theory and to a small degree practice, I'd have more low end torque. But one other reason was hoping the actual engine itself would hopefully be economical enough to go with the Group C rules.
Economy would be less an issue in GTP, and again while it was nice pushing the engine to 800+, I'd rather go with this motor I've come up with, since it's got (at least from what I've seen) more useable power, even thought here's still a massive jump even at low revs.
I'm still tweaking things...although I haven't been sitting down with this game as much since I'm trying to work out other stuff artwise. That being said, here's my 1986 motor for now.
My excuse for why I've yet to show a chassis to go with this (and other) engine(s) is, I'm trying to make up one that's period accurate, and hopefully isn't at worse terribly anachronistic. I guess why on one end I'm trying too hard since one model of inspiration is the Ford Mustang GTP from 1983 and 1984
I'm aware that said car only won once and had a rather terrible racing history otherwise, largely due to it's engine, not to mention a rift within the program between Roush, Zackspeed among others. But I like it since A, it's a front engined Prototype, which then and now is a rarity. But also since while it's engine was a weakpoint, the car as a whole, how it was built, it's aerodynamics, what Ford was aiming for to some degree... rather than going for a simple obvious formula like other marques.
It's something I can't help but admire and it's one other reason why I tried then and I'm getting back slowly into car making.
Enough rambling for now, till then.
