Re: 1.6 Race Engine

Race Engines right...that means MTBF doesnt really matter now

so add in these:
Direct Injection
MOAR BOOOOOOOOST
higher quality
go for the expensive stuff in the bottom end
5 valves per cylinder
Ultimate Unleaded running around 12.5:1 or greater

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

Race engines dont care they are not about economy they are about power and torque they are not very eco friendly engines they are built for producing as much power as possible!

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

But if you wanna use this engine in an endurance race f.e., economy is important ;)
But on the other hand, i dont think this engine is built for an endurance race

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

You're going to need a lot of gears, since the "good" part of your powerband is only about 1500rpm wide!

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

the most distance you can ever go in a race is the Le Mans 24 hours and that is less than 3300 miles or 5310km so this engine is already ideal for racing if you were to put this into a Le Mans car

One Problem with that Rally idea...Rally cars are limited to exactly 300bhp...this engine is 11bhp too powerful but I guess you could turn down DAT BOOOOST

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

although the DeltaWing from last years Le Mans ran on an I4 Turbo platform and it was so weird seeing a car that shaped going around pity it crashed out...but that had about 300bhp and a top speed on the far side of 186mph or to those people not from the UK thats 300kph....

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

Not a bad first attempt! You've got the power, now the trick is to make a usable powerband. Try downloading this example to get some ideas on how get a nice broad torque curve with lots of revs.

Re: 1.6 Race Engine

That's an impressively well optimised turbo setup you've got going on there, oppositelock.

Actually the opposite. Rally cars these days usually have a very wide powerband!
