Re: Engine Designer Video

I was wondering something simmiler about the fuel economy listing. Be easier if it has MPG also but if I have to make up a conversion table I'd do it, the game looks that good! :D

Re: Engine Designer Video

Actually, fuel consumption unit conversion is a bit more difficult to do, because car fuel consumption depends on many variables, and many of these variables (like mass of the car) can be accessed only after designing the whole car. So, you won't get fuel consumption in MPG or liters per 100 kilometers in engine designer. The only exception is when these variables will be assumed. (So, for example, fuel consumption would be shown for the 1500 kg car and for constant 50 MPH car speed on the lowest gear possible)

Re: Engine Designer Video

I was thinking more on stats for the completed car, in line with the discription bit on ModDB about economic cars being more in demand during the oil crises. My mind was getting a bit ahead of the current status :)

I was going to write a post explaining how it would work, but.... that :D

And Yes, you'll get MPG or LT/100km for a finished car

Re: Engine Designer Video

The engine designer does have a measure of economy, it is measured like generators, or other constant use engines, in fuel used per kilowatt hour created.

This will then get used with the weight and rough aerodynamics of a car. In the engine designer we will have some "tool tip" or something similar to give you an idea of what the liter per kilowatt hour equates into mpg per average sedan and hatch etc.

Re: Engine Designer Video

ALL the commen measurements?

i mean with HP there are different values for the same engine, all depeding on where u take the reading, like brake HP, which is what effectivly arrives at the wheel.
SIR! We're surrounded by enemies!

Excellent! Now we can attack in ALL directions.

Well, in the Engine Designer, there is no attached car.
You design the engine first, so there is only crank horsepower.

We probably are not going to model the changes of how horsepower has been measured over the years.
