My '69 Mustang GT
Hey guys.
Little story behind this one. back in '82, I had two Mustangs. One was a GT with a 390, and the other was a 427 Mach 1 CJ. However, that 390 was without the engine at the time, and I was planning to put in the 427 cammer mid-rise, which I owned. However, as these things happen, I never got the chance, for I put it off due to me starting my own company (which is a success now). It got to '87, and I got married to my wonderful wife Karen. We were living in a two bed, one bath house in Hialeah, Florida; not such a good neighborhood, but it was cheap. Of course, I had to downsize my car collection, and got rid of my two mustangs, one to a person that I didn't know, and my GT to a friend of mine, complete with the engine, for 30 grand.
That was the end of my ability to do anything interesting with cars for a while.
Then, 18 years and two kids later, I met my friend again. He was working for a construction company, like mine, who took a job where I was also working. He had wrecked my car. Also, to show how much of an idiot he was, he sold that 427 without doing any research on it. He sold it for *sigh* one grand. One freaking grand, when the heads alone from the original engine were selling for $4,500. *sigh again*. The car was rusted over, the chassis was in ok shape though, and the 390 he had put in it was badly tuned, knocking, and in general, running like a pig. I bought my car that I owned in high school back for 4 grand. This, was the GT.
I did some research. While this does not always depict this accurately, there are only 53 69 gt's registered in the US. So, I decided to keep it.
Now, it has a 427 Ford Dart stroker producing about 770 HP naturally aspirated at 7500 RPM, very similar to the old 427. It is painted viper blue with two black stripes, as a tremec 5 speed, and no radio. Who needs a radio with that engine anyway? Only got two things to do, seatbelts (nah) and insurance. Just kidding of course! I have the insurance!
