My lovely rides

My '00 Alfa Romeo 156 1.8 TS
My first car and I absolutely love it.
The handling is superb, 1.8 TS-engine produces quite a lot
of power for it's size and I think it looks quite lovely too.
The clutch is very good, gearbox works very well and the
brakes aren't annoyingly sensitive like they are in many
modern cars.

I bought it back in 2012 for 2300€ and it was in beautiful
condition. Mileage was 137tkm and the distribution belt was
changed at 125tkm. Interior was spot-on and the exterior was in
good condition too. I live in Finland so it gets quite
cold during the winter and I haven't had any problems
starting it up in temperatures like -25 degrees celsius.

I chose the 1.8 TS-model because it is very expensive
to own a powerful car in Finland. 2.5l V6 would have cost
a fortune to own. It consumes quite a lot of gas and
the taxes are very high for that model. I would love to
have something with a V6, but I simply can't afford it.
1.8 TS engine offers 146 hp and 167 nm of torque which
is quite enough for me. It's not the fastest but it's not
the slowest either. I love the sound of that Twin Spark
engine when it reaches 3000 rpm or more. Italians
seriously know how to design an engine.

My other ride is an 1975 Solifer SM 50cc moped
It's slow and old but I think it's great!
1974 is the first year model of this particular moped
and there are actually two variations of this moped.
I have the older "Fat tank"-version of the moped.
The newer "Slim tank"-models were built in 1977-1986.
There are couple of differences between the two.
The "Fat tank"-models had larger gas tanks, different front
suspensions, different exhausts and a different cylinders.
During the summer, I often ride it in the countryside.
It's very comfortable to drive and I've owned it since
2009. It's very easy to fix because the engine is very
simple 50cc 2-stroke to begin with.
I've tried to keep it as original as possible.

Specs:

Engine: Tomos 4G, 4 gear manual transmission, 1,1 kw (1,5 hp) @ 4000 rpm
and 3,12 nm of torque @ 3000rpm. The engine was made in Slovenia.
Carburetor: Austrian made 11mm Bing (1–11–49 / 11 mm)
Frame: Made in Finland by Solifer.
Max speed: 40 km/h, my own goes about 50 km/h.

Re: My lovely rides

Nice Alfa ;)
The 1.8TS is a okay engine for the 156. I had the smaller 1.6TS in my old 147, which also was okay for the car, although I always wished i had the 2.0TS or a 1.8TS in it.
But yeah, its a pretty decent engine, gets you fast around the roads and its not so expensive in taxes. Also its an Alfa :D
