I used to have a slighty modified Peugeot 106 GTi (MY 2001). I bought a house, so needed a cheaper car, so there was the Seat Arosa with 54000km (now 3yrs later 99000km). Only thing modified is the ICE.

Bought a Peugeot 206 SW GTi MY2003 with climate control, half leather interior etc etc. I'm a happy man

It has a 2.0-16v 136bhp engine and handles like a go-kart :o . Will have it next Saturday and pictures will follow.

This is the car, only I won't get the black OZ rims, but the original 16" ones.

A random one for the rims

Compared to the normal GTi the SW has got the rear suspension of the 206 RC / GTi 180. The handling is really good. The 106 was better (and faster) tho.

While we are on topic of automotive proverbs...

"Nie kupuj samochodów na F: Fiatów, Fordów i francuskich"

Translation:

"Don't buy F cars: Fiat ones, Ford ones and French ones"

It was only a 50€ repair (sensor was leaking).

Only the fuel consumption is a bit high... It does 9.3ltr/100km  with a normal driving style.

And this with a fuel price of € 1.62 a ltr...

I'm French, but I agree with you, especially about Renault...
Can't remember something problematic about Peugeot, and what's wrong with Ford ? My two brothers have Fords (Focus and Cougar) so I must warn them ! :)
And I know for Fiat, but Alfa Romeo isn't much better : think of the 156...

Kev I agree, with the alpha thing. I know a lot of Alpha drivers, they are all disappointed about their cars (154, Mito, 166 and Brera). But what do they want? Alpha is a part of FIAT group, so this cars are certainly bad. This applies also to Lancia Cars. The latest models of ford are OK, but those from middle 90´s are not so good (especially the loss of power through bad gearboxes, they have pretty good and powerful engines, but big loss of power due to those shitty gearboxes). I´ve done a small "quarter mile challenge" with a Mondeo driving friend of mine, and he lost even he had more than 30HP more (and nearly the same ridewight). But we say in germany also:
Hubraum ist durch nichts zu ersetzen, ausser durch mehr hubraum!
Translation:
You can´t replace cylinder capacity with anything, except MORE cylinder capacity...

Too bad 'cause great looking cars should have great lifetime so we don't worry and buy them !
I liked the first Grande Punto as it has a somewhat Maserati look (Gransport) but it's know for... well, being a Fiat.
Here in France we don't bother : we have bad looking and bad lifetime cars :D
One day, I saw an apple green Renault Avantime. My eyes started bleeding.
Anyway, the 106 GTI/S16 is quite a great car. Peugeot is known for its suspension, so you may push it to its limits without fear.
I didn't know about the Arosa. This thing sure has some Lupo blood in it.
I never really liked the SW. These "Nike taillights" quite bother me.
Anyways, these make quite the experience with differing weights and power. Keep riding !

Lupo and Arosa are the same cars, even the dashboard is the same. :D Only it doesn't come with the 1.4-16V 75bhp and 1.6-16v 125bhp.
