Honda Accord Coupè 3.0i VTEC

Here is a picture of my actual car:



It's a Honda Accord Coupè 3.0i VTEC buildt 2000. It has 200hp and a max. torque of 265Nm (195lb-ft) on a 4-speed automatic transmission.

imma have a guess and guess that you\ your car is from the US? cause you guys seem to get all the cool honda coupe's and everyone else gets the run of the mill 4 door ones

How do you mean? It just happens at a given RPM. The power curve is going to jump at the specified RPM whether its manual or auto.

Yeah, i know that. But i havent ever used an honda automatic. i mean if you fully press the gas pedal, it revs up to the limiter? because some cars dont have this with automatic gearbox :F

mm, good point. I think Honda autos do go to redline. If not you just lose some VTAK action I guess.

The VTEC in this engine works a bit different from the "usual" one. Below 3500rpm only one inlet valve is active. The other one remains closed. This gives you a better fuel efficiency at low speeds. Above 3500rpm both inlet valves are active and the engine can breath better, but it's less efficient.

In conjunction with the automatic transmission you won't feel the VTEC kick, because you are below or above. Very seldom that you go across the VTEC switch point, so that you can feel it.
