The indestructible Swede - Volvo 740 GL -90

So, got this beauty little over two years ago and have rebuilt or repaired most of it. I drive about 30 000 kilometers per year so it needs to be comfy. And yeah, it has run 455 000 kilometers already in its rather short life.

The car when i got it.

Since that day most of it has changed, for the outside of the car, mostly downhill. The interior is completly rebuilt with purple roof and lower doorpanels. The front seats are taken from a Volvo 940 and have been refoamed inside, the rear seat from an older 740 since the 940-seat are a bit higher. The rear doorpanels are taken from the same 940 along with most of the plastics and the dashboard. The newer 940 has a lot smoother look in its dashboard.

Well, all youths need a good stereo and so did I, the crappy sound it came with is therefore thrown out and exchanged for quality parts. In total I have 840 w RMS inside of the coupe and all of it directed towards the front seats.

A most common view, yes the door is in a slightly different color.

Emergency repairs in the early spring

All the parts changed:
Clutch (twice)
Front seats
Rear seat (twice)
Inner roof
Dashboard
Speedometer (twice)
The thingy in the rear axel connected to the speedo
Brakes (twice)
Handbrake
Lots of parts in the front suspension
A strut in the rear suspension after hitting a pipe sideways in 100km/h
Tyres (Three times)
Two rims
Door sills (due to rust)
Fuel pump
Fuel pump relay
Three oil gaskets
Generator (twice)
A huge lot of small stuffs, bolts and thingys
Exhaust system (parts of it twice)
Audio rewired
New electricals for the Speedo (It's from a 940, doesn't fit without rebuilding)
Drivers door
Fenders
Rear lights
More front lights
Brake shields

Next in line:
Fixing all the rust not shown in the picture and a new paintjob. Probably a cheap greyish color.

Ah, wonderful swedish winter roads.

Will provide more pictures as soon as we get a bit of sun here in the cold north.

Cool! I would have had one of these for daily driving if the road taxes weren't so high in the Netherlands. It would cost me a fortune because of the relatively high weight of the car.

Looks like it will be a long winter, so I stopped for some photos on the way home today.

A true swedish classic! "Silver Brick" you might say. Only way to kill them is by never using oil or water basically.

Had a white one once, a GLE, it had those always malfunctioning digital fuel and temp gauges and a leaking sunroof but comfy as a sofa and realiable as a mule (except for the aforementioned sunroof and gauges of course).
Sold it for 2000SEK (About 220€) to a friend who used it to drift on a frozen lake.
*chugga chugga chugga...VROOOM!*
