Have you ever being insulted because of a car you like/drive

Well, i'm asking this because it happend to me very often to me
So i'm a 13 years old 8th grader guy and other guys in school likes supercar... My friend used to this, but when he found out tuner cars can beat supercars, he likes tuner cars. So i was going to third floor of my school to check out whats happening on a class. And they were playing Tech Deck... And a guy took a black spray paint can from a table...
Me: Hey, What for is that spray paint?
Him: It's for my schoolwork
Me: Oh ok, i was going to take that to repaint something...
And a guy named Yazid, insults me like this
Yazid: What is it dumb guy? For your idiotic Bimmer?
I just keep saying what the heck is wrong if i like Bimmers and Hachiroku's?
And the whole class joined to insult me..
I was hiding in a class far from them and lock myself up there...
I was too upset, and when i close my eyes, it makes tears..
This wasn't the first time, This has started when i was 7th grader...
When i was in a PE class, I took a rest and watch Initial D Fourth Stage...
And when Takumi's 86 drifting,
My friend, Kevin insults me very much because i like cars like that and he told them to everybody
I can't stand it anymore...

It can feel like a lot of pressure if (it seems) everyone wants to pick on you because of your tastes, not just in cars, but anything in general. The truth is, people hating on things (and hating on people for liking things they hate) is something that keeps happening no matter how old we get. Just how many fights have I seen on forums over Holden versus Ford, or even a Golf GTi for goodness sake...

The most important thing to remember is that it's silly to hate people for what they like. But I suspect that people picked on you because they saw you were starting to get upset. It's also common for a mob to attack weakness they see. So as long as you know what you like and you're comfortable with your reasons (or lack of reasons, sometimes), then you need not worry, and once it's clear it doesn't bother you, nobody will bother you about it either.

I love my car, but one of my friends likes to rag on it because it is nowhere near as fast or sporty as his Megane, and he can't understand why I would buy something sensible and perhaps a little sluggish when he knows I like the experience driving. In a way he's right. But what he didn't get is that I don't see this car as my last car before I get married and settle down and have kids or whatever (as he has), and therefore consign myself to a life of family sedans :P

Wow, discussions and dispute about cars in 8th grade. When I was that young we argued about our favorite soccer club. That car dispute thing came later when driving ourselvs.

I sign this!

I sign this, too. I'm a big Opel Fan. In my former job, my work colleagues did know that. They were BMW fanatics and i had to listen to Opel Jokes neraly every day. Rusty cars bla bla bla... But I got used to it and made jokes about it myself before they could do (cause I'm a funny self ironic guy but this is not everbodys matter). With that self ironic attitude, they had no attack surface and it was boring for them.

So I can give you one advice. Stay strong and don't show them, that your angry or sad. Then they will leave you alone.

Seriously though, in answer to your first question, yes. I drive a gold Prius, so it comes with the car. But who cares? I chose it because I like it. If these people have nothing better to worry about than other peoples choices, then all I can say is they must be doing alright.

There will always be light ribbing in various communities, as someone mentioned above you're always going to get stuff like BMW vs Audi, Ford vs Chevy, Playstation vs Xbox, Android vs iOS, you get the idea. A lot of people have strong views on subjects like that, and if that's where their passion is then great.

However, by the sounds of it, this isn't what's above, again as someone mentioned it just sounds like people being daft and getting a kick out of being nasty towards you. So you like BMWs and AE86s, that's great I like the AE86 as well. Both are very well respected within car communities, so who really looks daft here?

As a side note, you say you watch Initial D, so there's a bit that sticks with me that'll probably be good for you here. Find Episode 11 of First Stage and just watch the first 5 minutes or so. You will probably feel better. :P

Anyway, would it not be boring if we all had the same tastes?

Man, not entirely sure where all that came from...

Nah man, light hearted stick is all good. :P As I say, I was fully prepared for that when I got the car, haha.

My boss once made fun of my Focus. I told him if he gave me a raise I'd drive something nicer. The next week he gave me a raise.

I have nothing to add which has not already been mentioned here. Haters are always going to hate, and bullies will always be around. If someone says something to you, just remember they're only words. They are entitled to an opinion just as you are, so don't worry over it. Bullies also give you more grief over something if they see it gives you grief, so just don't let it bother you. You can't go through life worrying over what other people think about you. Pick carefully those which you do worry over, or be bold and worry about nothing at all. Later in life, when you are making your mark on the world, you may just come out on top, and they they'll be really mad. haha It's a bit like the saying, "Be nice to nerds because someday you'll be working for them!" ;) Seriously though, live life on your own terms! Forget about the haters. Karma will get the bullies.

FTW!! (the old meaning, not For The Win)

I have had, on occasion, people react with surprise if not outright shock for having owned/own/prefer V-8 powered pony/muscle cars, often solely based on my appearance (my facial features being distinctly Asian due to my Korean mother). Some of the more obnoxious/ignorant ones have voiced their disapproval of my vehicles of choice, insisting that I should be 'more true' to my heritage, never mind the fact I was born in the US, and the only time I was ever in S. Korea was a two-year stint in the late 70s/early 80s, due to my Dad's obligations as a non-commissioned officer in the USAF...

Other times it's the usual brand X vs. Y, (usually) good-natured back-and-forth banter. Though I do take no small delight when some friends/acquaintances ask me for a ride in my 'crappy/POS Ford' when their particular champion of automotive excellence decides not to start for them when it's time to go to work (and more often than not asking if they can drive it...)...

I can't add anything about peoples that don't respect other choices.
What really hit me was this:

I can't stand it anymore...

If I've understand properly Kevin insults you because cars... I will not call it a "friend". A friend will not insult you. That's sad... kudos to you and stay strong.

Ignore those.... potato-brains? . Bullies always insist when they find a "weakness", 90% of the time they aren't even serious about what they're saying, or don't know WHY they're saying it, they only see that it makes you angry adn that someone else does it,they like it. ignore them, it's your strongest weapon, they'll die with anger. And, like NormanVauxhall said, i don't think a "friend" would pick on you for a car choice at all, if he was a real friend he would tolerate or be happy about your choice. Stay strong Octan :D :D

Yeah so i heard they play Wangan Midnight 4 on arcades... So tomorrow i will get a AE86 and i will take them out on Hakone, It's embarassing if a 835 HP monster passed by a 125 HP touge monster... And i heard if they being passed by a car that has smaller power, it will be an endurance battle.
