Just thought I'd post a few pictures I took of an F-Type that is kept at the Jaguar-Land Rover factory. I have just returned from a Business Education trip which involved spending a day there at the JAL factory.

I hoped to be able to take lots of pictures to show on here, but cameras were prohibited everywhere except the room where they kept this special F-Type. I guess it was to preserve information that could be of value to rival companies if they were to see said pictures somehow.
So anyway, here are some pics of the 'Jaguart' F-Type!

If there's anything you want to ask about the Jaguar factory, feel free to ask and I'll try to answer them. I have a rubbish memory though! :P

By the way, I didn't get any pics of the interior, sorry! :(

What was the assembly line like? Was it mostly mechanized, like a lot of mainstream manufacturers, or was it mostly hand-built?

Well, the people at Jaguar follow a 'zero waste' philosophy: Storage space is wasted space, any time not spend productively is wasted time and so on. Just to put it into perspective, every 5 minutes the factory stops the production line, the company loses £250,000. So mainly robots are used for the assembly of the cars. The actual manufacturing of the single parts is done elsewhere in England. For the final parts like trim and quality control, no robots can be used because of he fact that robots are unable to think. So only a small part of the factory is run by manual jobs.

Nice, but I think the Jaguar F-Type is art as it is, especially the coupe :P
