Where I live in Spain isn't exactly what people think Spain is like. The weather is horrible. People love coming to Spain because it is warmer and drier than the UK, but here is a nightmare. In the winter it gets incredibly cold and windy and can very often be colder than in the UK. The wind adds an extra chill and the constant dryness doesn't help either. The summer is unbearably hot. Most days from June to Septmeber are 35°C plus and can very often exceed 40°C. From October to July no rain can fall at all and then in the months of August and September all the rain that falls during the year comes down in the form of constant thunderstorms. Back in 2012, 11 inches (225 mm) of rain fell in just 6 hours, killing many and leaving thousands homeless. 11 inches of rain is the average rainfall for 15 months in this area. Also, the economy is in a complete state and if it doesn't improve shortly I will not be able to get a job to fund going to university and if I am lucky enough to find a job, it is unlikely I will find a job in the career I have decided I want.
There are good things though. Anything related to roads in this country is amazing. There is hardly any traffic, the roads are in immaculate condition and there are numerous fantastic mountain roads. Where I live isn't far from decently populated cities and the popular tourists resorts are a couple of hours drive. The beaches and countryside are the best in Europe. The healthcare system is one of the best in the entire world. No matter where you are or what shop or bar/restaurant you are in the people always treat you as their best friend even though they have never seen you before.
Everybody lives happier in this country and the lifestyle is just wonderful, it is just a shame about the weather and economy.
