Laptop (Sony Vaio S 13)

- Intel Core i5-3210M
- 12GB DDR3-1333
- Nvidia GT 640M LE @ 140% of factory clock - I probably have enough thermal headroom to take it close to 200% but haven't bothered.
- Intel SSD 330 180GB
- Windows 10 RTM (or whatever the Technical Preview is called at the moment)

Usually cnnected to a long list of external storage and audio devices.

Up until now most of my gaming has been done on a xbox 360 or my lenovo thinkpad :-p Needless to say the thinkpad stuggles a little bit, but fear not!

I am building a budget pc for gaming, I understand that not all of the parts are high end, however I got many of them on sale/clearance or even 2nd hand. Its meant to be a budget-ish 'console killer.'

FX-8150 (used)
ASUS M5A99 EVO R2
16gb DDR3 Corsair ram 1600mhz (used)
1TB Seagate HDD
ASUS GTX 950 Strix Gaming 2gb
ASUS optical drive
2x 120mm deep cool fans
Thermal Take TR2 700w PSU
Cooler Master Hyper T2 CPU Cooler
Deep Cool Tesseract Case
Random Logitec mouse + keyboard
Windows 10

All in all the build has cost me less then 750$ CAD (Really cheap for here in CA)

My gaming desktop has an Intel i5 6500 Skylake w/ 16GB DDR4 3200 RAM, and a PNY GTX 770 OC2 4GB video card running Win10 Home.

I've played Automation much more on my 4GB Surface Pro 2 though, since I'm away from home the majority of my life.

I just upgraded to a Surface Pro 4... still debating if I'm going to keep it (roughly 9 days left to decide), but it runs Automation on full blast like a champ.

might as well
so i started out with a stock dell optiplex 380 that was stock, except it was missing the PSU, hard drive, and processor.
so the first thing i did was i got a core2 quad Q8300 for just $30 to put in there, i also had a Fractal Design newton 800 watt PSU from a failed build, a 128 Gig SSD that i got from one of my laptops (was upgrading to a 320 Gig Western Digital Blue drive) along with a 2 Terabyte seagate hard drive i was using for some data backups (which were way outdated anyways) then i also took a heatsink out of another dell i found at a recycling center (fit the stock mounting brackets but was much beefier). i then used a windows 7 disk to install windows then took the windows 10 upgrade, i also got a 2nd stick of 2 gigs of DDR3 from another recycling center PC to make it a total of 4 gigs (was 3 stock, one 1 gig and one 2 gig). i initially started out with a GT430 but then i ordered the GTX 750 Ti and it is currently my main system, and i managed to get it NCIX approved :)
time for a pic:

(note, the picture was taken before i put the SSD in, it's an older pic of the system, it also has a capture card and a wifi card in there now, this pic is just a bit outdated)

better than most dells i'd have to say, i do run into CPU bottleneck a lot, but ETS2 is easily playable on medium-high settings and i can run automation maxed out, i don't have battlefield 4 or GTA5 or anything of the like to compare it to sadly

That is hardly any dust at all you silly boy :)

I keep the computer clean, but I am not a fanatic. I live in a VERY dusty environment, and I clean the computer monthly, this is about as dirty as it gets.

Oh, yeah. I forgot that you Californian people are relatively close to the sea, so computers naturally get more dirty.

I'm in the desert, very dry, low humidity. Lots of dust/dirt.

waitttt i read somewhere else, i thought you were playing on a laptop?

similiar specs to mine

Asus K43TK
AMD A6-3420M @ 1.5Ghz (overclockable to 2.0, but because cant do it via bios, have to do it everytime it restarts.)
2x2GB of DDR3 RAM
the Integrated HD6520G+dedicated HD7670M (hybrid dual graphic on a low end laptop. yay :) )
1TB HDD, originally 500GB, died, upgraded and replace with, the 1TB, but also was broken so... RMA, and this is the 3rd HDD on it's 4 years life so far

sitting on a deepcool N9 cooling pad.
battery died, replaced, the connectors went bad, never got it repaired.
keyboard and mousepad is also dead. using external mouse+key.

this laptop is now really just a shitty powerless desktop replacement.
but, only 70Watts power imput FTW :)
