Lua error when... pretty much anything

Here's my case:
It pops up in a random manner pretty much every time I click a button while creating a new car (in this case in a Galileo scenario). Clicking it and going back to game temporarily fixes it and lets me do one or two more clicks until it pops up again. There are no saves that could be corrupt, it's a fresh install.
I just found out that I have these problems for almost a year now, I found a screenshot from last August with pretty much identical error pop-up, only with a bit less detailed explaination.
I'd be grateful for your assistance. Sadly, in this state, the game is unplayable for me
