Cooling Drag Fix?

I may just be ignorant, but I do believe a while back a fix was released for the ridiculous amount of drag cooling produces at higher speeds? In the update info, it did not say anything about being a steam update, but my game has not updated.

Is this some sort of malfunction?

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

I run standalone, for the record, but I would assume that, given it's been well over a week, and that there was no mention of it being a "Steam" specific update, that it should be on standalone as well?

If such is the case, I imagine the devs have a manual updater sitting around like they did for the last time there was an open beta.

I don't mean to be problematic, just the lack of mention among the forum of anyone else experiencing this has led me to believe it may be a problem I alone am experiencing. That, or the update hadn't been pushed on standalone for some unknown reason. Currently it is a pretty annoying obstacle as even the lowest downforce options I can get will not allow a 1,400+ horsepower car over 220mph, rendering it impossible to make any sort of reasonable supercar without putting ridiculous amounts of power in.

Oh, I see what you mean now! I haven't run standalone since the update so I don't know, but I could check later.

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

Standalone updates less frequently than Steam for a number of reasons which have probably been discussed elsewhere.

The devs skip bugfix updates and roll them all into the next major update to reduce workload on their end, as far as I'm aware.

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

I understood that the updates would be delayed by a few days, or a week, according to what was discussed, but I recall no instance of them saying that Standalone doesn't get bugfixes, except with the major updates. Which only come out every few months or so.. That'd be kinda shoddy, honestly.

My point still stands that the Launcher did not specify it as a Steam Update, and prior ones were indeed listed as [Steam] Updates.

I would hope that the devs would not so freely abandon those of us who run standalone, the original circumstances were supposed to be that we'd not have Multiplayer features, and then they were that we'd have to wait an extra few days past Steam players. But saying that we have to wait for the Major Updates, which are few and far, for fixes to bugs that have already been fixed is a bit ridiculous.

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

That would indeed be ridiculous and is not the case. The Standalone version should be running on the same patch as the Steam version. It should be on B150409 and if it isn't that's something we need to fix asap.

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

Thank you for the reply, Killrob. I suppose then my original theory was correct, and it's some sort of launcher glitch.

Has any one else reported a similar issue?

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

If standalone is meant to be updated a short time after Steam then my launcher is also not updating properly.

EDIT: Just checked, I'm on 150328. Launcher doesn't seem to think there's any updates available.

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

The only progress I've made is realizing that there's no "force update" function in the Automation launcher.

I suppose one could force the launcher to retrieve the latest version of the game by un- and re-installing it? I haven't done this yet because I have both Steam and Standalone version installed, and I'm unsure which is which in the Windows Control Panel.

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

We fixed the issue with the standalone version and we're currently uploading it for internal testing. If it works out it will be live tomorrow :)

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

From my quick go at it this seems to be all good now. You can give it a try yourself by downloading and installing this patch:

Re: Cooling Drag Fix?

I've read this thread only just now and have been assuming the update wasn't out for standalone yet, since my standalone version is still at 150328. So yes, standalone probably didn't update on its own since the ~1GB update...
