Clone models

Before i go into details, i'm looking for help and if this the wrong section, mods please move the topic :?

Now let's get back on track..... In the pre-Steam version in order to clone a car you just revise it and save it with a different name. Another option was to copy/paste the car file. Now what i want to do is to copy the whole FAMILY (even if there are no trims in it) so i can apply facelift and/or create a sportier model (fixtures wise). I tried copying the family and trim files and renaming them, but they wouldn't show in the game.
So how do i clone the car family :?:

Re: Clone models

I would like to see that also. This should go in the suggestion forum. It's not a big deal. I think you got a bit mixed up it's the platform you want to clone.
ex: 5.4L DHOC which would be here:
\Documents\My Games\Automation\Cars\Platforms
\Documents\My Games\Automation\Engines\Platforms
So if you want to use the same car/engine just to change one thing That would be locked

  • Exit you game if its open
  • Copy and paste the file on you desktop.
  • Rename it (You can rename it again once you are in game if you need)
  • Put the file back where it's supposed to be
  • Start up your game

I've never tried this so I'm not sure if this will work.
I'm in the process of upgrading my PC so hopefully someone can help you if you have any questions.
