I first made a 2020 race car, then i turned the car into a cheap 1940 car with a 3" bore and 3" stroke v8 engine with push rod, camshaft at 50, and dual carbs. i went for cheap and got the complete opposite.

Re: Half a billion dollar car.
That looks like some selection was left from 2020 which should have been deselected automatically, 2020 tech in 1940 is expensive
can you find out which item didn't deselect properly?

Re: Half a billion dollar car.
I thought I'd take a quick look at this. I made this car in 2020 to start with, using as much modern tech as I could except for a body that was available in 1940:
Moving the year back to 1940 got a game crash (no lua error though). To get the crash to happen: *edit* changing the engine year is unnecessary so i removed that part*/edit*
- save the car (may not be neccessary)
- go back to the chassis design screen and hold the change year button until you hit 1940
- use the arrow to go to the car trim secton. game crashes.
Because of this I suspect it is something in the car trim section that isn't changing back properly.
*edit*
Done a little more testing and it seems that the gearbox is the cause of the high prices while having any driver aid installed on the car before you change the year to 1940 causes the crash
Doing the above, but with all driver assists removed does not cause a crash. The gearbox stays as a manual double clutch gearbox with 9 speeds, and leaves a techpool of -185. The rest of the car gets changed appropriately and, as you would expect, the price has gone into silly figures
here's the car:
The interior and safety are set to none because that was my first guess as to the cause of the problem, however these get changes as they should

i tired to revise the car but i get this instead ---------------------------
Lua Error:
---------------------------
tolua++ dbcall failed!: [string "--client\functional\PlatformDesignerWindow.lu..."]:1957: attempt to index field 'partList' (a nil value)

Re: Half a billion dollar car.
I remembered a similar problem that happened in one of the CTCs a while ago and found another case of the tech not changing when it should. built a car with a 2014 year, a luxury entertainment system and advanced safety. changing the car's year back to 2003 in the chassis tab puts the tech pool on both of those items to -7 despite the correct (ie. changed) item being highlighted in both of those fields
car with bug attached:
*edit*
I've also done another quick test and confirmed that when any of the driving aids that are attached to the car become unavailable due to a year change the game will crash as soon as you go to the car trim section. You don't have to go back to a year when there are no assists available for the crash to happen
