String error on startup

Hi Guys,

I did originally report this a month ago here: viewtopic.php?p=36628#p36628 but it seems my string error is not being caused by FMOD like the OP in that thread so i thought it best to start another one.

Basically, when launching the game i get this:

Hitting retry gives me this:

my log.txt consists of this:
  Code:
Starting initialization process...
Loading User Settings
Loading Player Settings...
Player Name is: JamesMiller
No Unit Settings, Defaulting to Metric
Loading Display Settings from XML
--------------------------------------
Display Settings:
Loop!
Loop!

and my DxDiag is attached. I've not been able to play automation for the last month. I'm a Sad panda :(

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

Try uninstalling, deleting your Documents/Automation folder, and reinstalling and running the cleaner tool. It seems to work for most people :).

Nope, tried all that. I've used the cleaner, tried manually deleting the folders, tried installing it elsewhere. nothing seems to work :( it's been like this since the last update pretty much.

Oh,

I've just figured it out! It was my MY documents folder. Standard location (windows 8.1) is c:\users\[user name]\Documents but I'd moved mine to my server (mapped to z:). It seems automation doesnt like this as it works once i restore the default location :)

Obviously i cant leave it like this but at least i know what to do to get automation running!

I assume you have tried deactivating all kinds of gfx options in the launcher?
