Demo worked, Bought game and now locks up

I downloaded the demo first to make sure it ran okay on my computer, which it did, I then bought the game and now it won't let me play sandbox mode at all, it will just freeze and stop responding as soon as I click on it. Frustrated since I just spent $25 dollars that I probably shouldn't have.

What exactly happens? Does the game just freeze as soon as you click 'Sandbox' from the main menu?

Have you tried getting into the Multiplayer or Scenario modes?

The box turns red when you click on it right? Well it stays pressed in and red. And yes it freezes as soon as I click it. Scenario mode works until I try to switch options, for example going from lower block to upper block locks the game up aswell.

Hmmm, strange. I just tried running Automation in compatibility mode for Windows 7 (I run Windows 8) and it works fine for me..

Also, the box doesn't turn red, but the outside of the 'Sandbox' writing does.
Could it be something to do with framerate? There was a bug in the past related to PC's running the game at under 20fps. (Not trying to assume you have a crap PC or anything )

What does the error say? Also it might be helpful to upload your log files (KeeEngineLog, log, and SoundLog. Located in Documents/Automation)

Post a reply to this thread, and scroll down until you see an 'Options' tab. Next to that there should be an 'Upload attachment' tab. Click that, and Choose File, then hit the 'Add the file' button. Then when you post the reply, your attached files should also be visible.

Can you also post the file titled 'log' so one of the devs can take a look at it?

The only thing about your KeeEngineLog that differs to mine is there's a line in yours that says:

Pending device reset
failed resetting device!
Device has been reset

I'm not sure what this means since I'm not a dev, but I'll use what knowledge I have to help you .

Hmmm, I'm really not sure what could be going on. I think it would be best to leave it to one of the devs to help, any further input by me would just be random suggestions off the top of my head . It does work fine with windows 7 though, also I've just been playing Automation for the last hour on Windows 7 compatibility mode.

Anyway, I don't really have anything more (of any real value) to suggest now, besides running the cleaner tool and maybe reinstalling. There's no guarantee this will work however, but it's worth a try!

Thanks! BTW when installing, the direct X doesn't install, it tries to but then says not responding... is this related?

Actually that is most likely the exact problem! Have you tried getting DirectX straight from Microsoft's website? http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... aspx?id=35

Although in a lot of cases, especially for those who play a lot of PC games; they already have DirectX installed, but then if you run the installer, it should display a message along the lines of 'The current version or a newer version of DirectX is already installed on your computer'. The fact that it just stops responding is strange..
