Engine Bay Size

No matter what I do, when creating a car, I can never get an engine to fit inside the engine bay. I get the cooling to be able to hold like, 1500 kj, but then it will only allow me to have a 800 cc engine... What am I doing wrong?!

Re: Engine Bay Size

1) Design any platform and save it (longitudinal RWD usually gives you a bit more space for the engine).
2) Build a new model based on that platform.
3) Click "choose engine" and select "new engine".
4) Build an engine that doesn't turn the arrows red. Note that I6s may be difficult to fit in due to their length.
5) Save the engine and then choose it.

It is possible to fit 7L or larger engines into some of the engine bays :)

Re: Engine Bay Size

So, just set the base of the car first and then save it? Then put the engine in, then put all the fixtures on?

I build up the looks and everything and then put all the fixtures on. Then try putting the engine in...

EDIT:

By putting an engine in, I mean that I also try creating a new engine for it as well. The only engines that fit ar 800 cc.

Re: Engine Bay Size

Do you follow Killrob's steps? Which engine type do you try to fit how into which body? A bit more information would be useful.

Re: Engine Bay Size

I followed it. I started a new platform, making a Longitudal mounted car with the 2 door coupe body (kinda like an s14, I think...). Saved it with not other work to it. Went to build a new engine for it and it still would only allow something under 1.0 L to be in the car...

EDIT: I'm trying to put an Inline 6 in the car.

Re: Engine Bay Size

Then I don't know what the problem is for you. Maybe you can share some screenshots?

I tried it with the mentioned body and could fit in a 3.2 liter DOHC-4 (not the smalles head type) Direct Injection engine when choosing RWD and a 1.9 liter engine when choosing AWD. Different fuel systems might make the maximum engine capacity a bit smaller, but 800 cc is really small.
