A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Error 1: (Very minor) One of the cam covers ,dohc, says "Four Valve" even when it has 5 valves. (Estetic error, i know.)
Error 2: Where is the cam timing slider? I want to be able to do both "Grannymobile" engines and engines for the "Just got the license, and need to show of for the pals at the Burger joint!" ;) ;)
Error 3: The Tutorial "Spinning Faster" is not possible to finish, because one of the Tech Spec says: Emissions no more than 400g/kWh. That is Economy, not Emissions. so even with 398g/kWh it didn't pass. :(

no. 2 is not an error. Cam Timing is now covered in Cam Profile, as it did not bring much importance to gameplay, and was unidirectional.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

and about number 3 seems like someone forgot to remove the old units since the revamp changed emissions from g/kWh to just a number without a unit. It's still a emissions limitation though so just ignore the g/kWh (or lb/hph) part.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Another error or typo,

In scenarios were lifespan is in the specifications it doesn't change the number of points scored when the lifespan changes, for example in scenarios: More Pöwer and Spinning faster. Where it says it should be 20/30% of the points scored.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

How the hell can i get an engine to have the max power at over 10500 rpm as before the update? 1800cc 4 cyl ( just have demo)

No matter what i try, i cannot get the max power higher than 9600 rpm.

And the Emission/Economy, that makes the scenario impossible to finish.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Some nasty little bugs made it into this version, my apologies for that, they will be sorted out quickly.

As for the power at high RPM: Please name me a few engines in cars that use normal valvetrain tech and produce their peak power at more than 10500 RPM. Even today's supercars don't do that.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Modified engines can get past 10k.

Toyotas 20v 1.6 4age was tuned for supertouring racing to make 255hp @ 11000 rpm

Old DTM engines had normal valvetrain, springs, and they were LIMITED to 12000 rpm.

Alfa Romeo's 2.5l v6 made 14500 rpm when benched.

There is a Nissan RB26 DETT in England that is tuned for dragrace that makes 12000 rpm. Now that must be a nice screamer

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

From those examples you see though that it is not relevant for "normal" production cars. Automation is not a race engine building simulation after all (although we are toying with the thought of post 1.0 release update in that direction).

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Heh. ;) I'm well aware of the fact that those engines are not standard for road cars.
But i want to design an engine that is a sort of R version of a supercar.
A bit of extra everything.

Maybe a bit like the Pagani Zonda R, but that's not usable anywere.
You can't use it on public roads and you cannot use it for track days.
Because most race tracks have a 100dB limit, which the Zonda R exeeds.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Love the updated demo but seems an obvious bug got past that wasn't mentioned here. The engine lifespan is coming out unbelievably low. That is, the longest lasting engine I've made since getting the update is coming up as roughly 50 miles. I really don't think an engine that has to be redone after every trip would sell very well

Found another bug:
The default fuel-mixture shows 14.7:1 on the slider but its more like 12:1, so it all changes if you go 1 step down and then 1 up.

Re: A number of errors found in the updated demo.

Im getting the same fuel mixture bug as well, changing it by one makes big changes to results and going back up one doesnt make a difference, you have to go to somewhere around 12 or 13 to have the same results as when it was at the start. but it didnt happen on all the scenarios, some worked ok.

Not sure what version was being talked about previously, but in the just released version 160, the Spinning Faster tutorial is still mixing up Emissions with Economy.
