Game freezing when choosing top end configuration

Just downloaded the demo. Whenever i choose an option for Heads and valves(e.g. pushrod) the game freezes and the following error message comes up:

If you click OK another error message appears:

Clicking cancel closes the game, clicking retry closes the error message but the game remains frozen.

This is occurring on sandbox mode and in scenarios. I have tried reinstalling the game to no avail. Anyone know how to sort this?
