magnesium engine material?

Magnesium engine material has disappeared from the list (block) in tech year 2013, don't know what happened? Also something I noticed just while playing around that when the engine is running (in manual test mode)and you zoom in there are no pistons or connecting rods is this just so you can see the valves move while the engine is running?

Re: magnesium engine material?

Not sure about the missing Magnesium, I'll look into it.

When you say the pistons etc are missing, is this when the block etc is hidden, or when you zoom THROUGH the block?

Re: magnesium engine material?

Zoomed in through the block (it may have been intended to be this way just asking).

Re: magnesium engine material?

Yup, it hides them as you're not intended to be able to zoom through the block (in the next patch it'll stop you doing so)

The Mg block doesn't appear till 2020, that's why it's not there at 2013.

Hybrid engine block. Magnesium outer shell with alu inner liner, and Alusil cylinder coating.

In use 2004 - 2011.

Volkswagen used magnesium blocks in their aircooled engines from 1936 - 2006.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen ... led_engine.

It needs to be available much earlier than 2020.

Re: magnesium engine material?

We're considering our type as the BMW type, and saying that they had to research 15 years ahead of the "prevailing tech level" to get that.
