Material cost bug?

So yes im not sure if this is a bug or meant to be but heres the scenario:

The year was 2012 and I built a V8 flatplane engine witch had 1114 HP, with all top end parts and the cost for the engine was about 3700 (US dollars i think?)

There is no way that you could build in the real life a engine with +1000HP with only 4000 dollars, so will this be fixed or is it meant to be that low?

Thank you for reading! :)

Re: Material cost bug?

These are not actual dollars but "money units"... which you can tell from the scenarios playing in the 50's and 60's... as those engines would cost a fortune.
For the scenarios we chose a fixed conversion rate, while in the final game there will be proper inflation of currencies.

Re: Material cost bug?

Also don't forget its MATERIAL cost. so for things like the Conrods, the Crank, The Block etc. It's only counting the cost of the Aluminium that goes into making them, its not including the cost of running a casting plant, the cost of the workers who run the machine that casts the block, or machines the block deck etc etc.

The only part that it includes is the fuel system (Either the carbies or the ECU/Loom/Injectors) as those are usually brought in from an external supplier.

If it had quite a few manhours to make it and needed a forging plant (expensive to run) and hand built headers for example, an engine with only $3k in materials could easily cost $30k+ in actual cost to the company to build.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks to both of you, Helped alot! :)

Good to hear that there will be some inflation also, most games these days just have a fixed price..
