More Eletrical Detail?

Will the car's electrical system ever be something that can be tooled with in the car designer?
Here's some things off the top of my head:
Battery Type:
- Conventional Lead-Acid
- VRLA/AGM (Cost++, Weight--, Safety++, Service Cost++)
- Lithium-Ion (Cost+++, Weight---, Service Cost++++)
Battery Location:
- Engine Bay 'Upper' (e.x. directly under the hood)
- Engine Bay 'Lower' (e.x. down in the fender)
- Trunk (Requires VRLA/AGM or Lithium-Ion, Engine Bay Volume++)
Battery Size:
- Bigger Size has more capacity and cranking power, but is heavier and takes up more space

Alternator Amps?

Things that might require a 'beefier' electrical system:
- More advanced Infotainment package
- Excessive lights

Just a few thoughts. I suppose this might be something that's looked at if/when hybrids and/or electric cars are added? :P

That's definitely not going to happen. However, you do bring up a good point about...

More advanced Infotainment package[s]

...needing beefier electrical systems. However, notice how the more advanced infotainment packages are heavier? In a way, you could say that's where some of the added weight comes from - so it's already taken into account. Fixtures are cosmetic only (apart from grills, vents, wings etc.) - they don't add weight.
