Can we modify game files to add in new engine parts?

I was watching a dev video killrob posted about the new "modern" push rod option coming soon, and he mentioned that they just modified the game files to add in a new selection and assigned the same art assets to the new option. Can us as consumers do something similar to modify our own files? I wanted to add a rudimentary option for a turbo that can spool faster than our current options. I know the engine designer is feature locked for a while you roll out the tycoon portion. Would this be possible using a text editor or something similar to add a new part selection and assign Man Hours, Production Cost values, ect. to it?

If not no biggie game is a blast, but I always have fun modding just about any game I own :)

Nope you can't do that at the moment, though there will be modding support later on.

Making a better spooling turbo would be harder than just adding a part anyhow, as it really needs a rewrite of the turbo calculations to spool properly (which it will get later on)
