Would it be safe to presume that the sudden influx of bodies being made, is due to the game being filled out to make it seem less bare on steam-release? And that while we will likely be seeing lots of bodies in the next update, the focus afterwards will be shifting towards more behind-the-scenes work and the Tycoon mode?

Pretty much correct yeah, I'm focusing on car bodies and new variants of existing car bodies right now, but soon I'll be moving on to car designer tutorial videos and then tycoon game art.
Kubboz could do more car bodies, if we could afford to pay him for enough of them, so if Steam helps our sales we'll probably give him a lot more work and thus have a lot more car bodies being made, even whilst the rest of the team is moving on to Tycoon things

Speaking of Bodies, are we likely to get the ability to alter the C-pillar on those with a D-pillar? e.g. Estates (station wagons) and the small MPV

Maybe on some of them.
If i can make it work nicely I will, that's always how the deforming zones are chosen
