Running a company

This might be a weird question to ask about a game that is about making cars, but will it be possible to run a company without actually releasing any cars? Sort of an engineering company, like Cosworth or supplier company. From what I've read and understood it will be possible to license your technology to other companies, so theoretically it should be possible. Will other companies want my technology if I never released anything with it though?

Night not be helpful, but well... In multiplayer other companies might want your technology. Not sure about AI companies though...

Im pretty sure this would be a multiplayer only thing.. Even if AI companies could buy your engines(for example) it would most likely be random and not something you could run a whole business from..
But I do hope to see this sort of thing in multiplayer games

I can see it working with AI myself actually. It just has to be a technology that appeals to them really - whether it be cheaper, more reliable, or more powerful tech as long as it stands out it should sell, right?

I would guess this actually is a possibility with the game in singleplayer by the line on the mainpage:
"Go ahead, build your dream-car company, or simply aim to dominate the world markets with your superior design skills!"
This would seem to indicate you can simply design engines, gearboxes, platforms, and cars without selling cars to the public.

Ok, well, sounds promising anyway.
I guess for this to work well there has to be an option to put your technology up for sale and AI companies have to evaluate if it's worth buying it; or AI companies have to be putting out contracts that you could bid on.
