Destroying countries

I'm currently sitting in math class, and being bored came up with an idea. In the tycoon, if we get really rich :D, could we buy all the companies in a given country , and them shut them down and refuse to sell cars in that country , and buy anyone who tries to sell cars in said country, could an economic recession due to lack of cars be modeled in the country due to lack of transportation?

Re: Destroying countries

I dont think this ever will be possible. You would need to have so much cash its impossible... Its like toyota trying to buy Fiat Group, VAG and GM/Chrysler etc. for selling cars in France/Germany??
Maybe for smaller companies yes, but by the time you generate enough cash to buyout all the companies, they are really wealthy too. i liked the system TTDLX had for buying companies. Their wealth is also taken into account when buying shares.

I liked the model used in Railroad Tycoons where you could buy and sell shares as either yourself or the company, you could also sell short or long and use credit/debt to fund takeovers

Re: Destroying countries

I'm going to oppose you for the supreme emperor of Pluto.

What is the basis of my election campaign you ask? Llamas. Have you seen their faces? Have YOU seen a llama nose?
How could not want them to populate the planet?

I stand for the eradication of Pluto and llama replacement scheme. Do you?

Re: Destroying countries

I liked the Rail road tycoon version where you could as an "CEO" buy personal shares and you could also buy for the company, maybe even a bit more complex system would be like Capitalism II but i dont think that level of detail will be put to the stockmarket alone as its a pretty small part of the game (or big for some like me, but there are other games to satisfy my needs ;) wall street raider etc.)

But if the devs are planning a stockmarket i hope the do something between RRT and Capitalism II, also it would be a nice option if there would be some regulations/fines if you try to manipulate the market. But that might be hard to add, but it would add alot to the stockmarket as in Capitalism II if i wanted i could become a multi-billionaire in about 15 min just by manipulating the market.. So while thats nice its not so challenging after that :D

Anyways i just realized this was in the Developer question forum but i'll post it anyways since it kind of fit the thread :P

EDIT: Another idea, buying shares of oil companies or aluminium or whatever raw material and you would get free parts when building a car or they would just produce cash (for some time, when resources are out you would have to buy shares in another one). These companies should be "automated" as in you cant improve them or run them in anyway they would just give you benefits/money if you own them/own a part of them.

EDIT 2: That could also give you huge strategic options as you could low-ball the market if you wanted with so cheap cars that if your competitor would try to match your price with the same car they would lose money.

I believe the devs will already take the costs of amterials into account. So for oil, aluminum and such you already pay to produce parts. If you could ahve shares into producing these things, it would be nice as you could then get discounts on the production of aprts with aluminum in or so.

An example from the real world of the sort of "strategy" this could bring - again it probably to complex to code and not really the focus of the game, but Triumph used to have their body parts supplied by a 3rd party. This 3rd party was bought out by a Rival (BMC) and they essentially got to look at Triumphs new products in advance. Then Triumphs contracts expired and were not renewed. Leaving them searching for a new suppliers, none of which had the capacity they needed.
In the end Triumph worked round the issue but it shows the sort of tactics available through this route.

Why would you run for supreme emperor and then destroy us? This is why llamas shouldn't be in charge :D I propose to bring moose to Pluto! Here is my opinion of your running slogan
