Forum Clean Up Day

First of all, I'm not very sure how hosts work in relations to the number of posts, images, threads, etc. But I was wondering if a weekly or monthly "clean up" day would be effective at keeping the site running well?

Things we can clean up:

• Threads - Duplicate threads and single engine/car threads. Excluding one "Most Powerful", "Most Economical", etc. threads.
• Posts - Posts that don't contribute to the topic of the thread. I'm not sure how it'll help, other than reducing the number of replies to go through.
• Image - Remove images on the forums, and relocate them to 3rd party sites like imgur. This way the site would load quicker.? Again, not sure how that works.
• Any unnecessary items - Anything I didn't cover by the other three items.

I realize this might not be a big deal and it probably won't be needed, but I think it would help. Thoughts?

Sounds like a lot of work to be honest. I'm sure that if a cleanup day is really organized by the Core team, we'd be able to carry it out (Maybe more of a cleanup week).

However, I don't think that the forums are hitting any storage limits at the moment. I'm sure the team would be able to find a solution if a problem like that ever arises. Of course, if the game grows to a certain size, the forums, as well as the website and the online servers would be strained, but the extra money from the increased pre-orders would offset that.

Basically, I don't think there's a need for a "Clean Up Day" per say. Something like a Forum reorganization day sounds more realistic, although I don't think it's even needed right now.

Ah. What would be the difference of clean up day to forum reorganization day? Other than that, thanks for explaining it to me.

I'd consider a reorganization day to be more of re-arranging parts of the forum, moving threads around, etc. Rather than archiving and deleting certain posts.

Of course, that's just my opinion on things. At the end of the day, I'm not the one making the decisions

I agree that double posts should be deleted. A lot of posts just go on about the same thing and got locked, but are still there. I think, even for searching, quite some thread that are outdated should be deleted to make it easier to search. If you look for a certain thread now, you get 150 pages of hits... hm...

Posts like this should definitely be deleted:

They take up way to much space on the forums.

Not just you, the # of posts on the forums will drop by a good 3000 or so (just a guess).
