Service intervals & Pricing and used cars

In the complete game are we going to have an option to decide the service intervals of our car models and maybe something related pricing of the services?

It could make some kind of a nice game play mechanic to offer the services really cheap compared to competitors. And maybe this together with the service intervals. Maybe to make very long intervals with cheap prices could make you car look much better than competitor but you'll lose some money for offering the services for "too cheap". And maybe if you make the intervals too rarely it could impact on your cars MTBF or some other parameter which would describe how well you car is performing and functioning etc.

Another guestion. Is the game going to judge how good your car is keeping it's value in time? And will it handle anything related to used/old cars or is it just about the new cars and manufacturing?

Re: Service intervals & Pricing and used cars

There will be some game mechanics around servicing for sure, given that service intervals are kinda an output stat of your designs. You maybe could extend or reduce them compared to the recommended ones, it'd be a reliability vs ownership cost tradeoff.

Not sure regarding depreciation/used value, you certainly won't be dealing with the used cars themselves, but maybe the depreciation on your new cars would be something that buyers would want to take into account? Depends if we can make it an interesting and worthwhile gameplay mechanic.

Yes, I don't even want to deal with used cars but it could be nice to have some stats how long your cars have lasted and how are the used car prices developing in time.

And I think that in real world the buyers take into account the depreciation. And this comes back to the quality of the product when new but also the service intervals, quality of service and maybe even the pricing of the services. (And of course many other things such as prestige etc. But I'm trying to keep this topic related to servicing) If the official manufacturer services are too expensive maybe the owners doesn't use them but instead use some 3rd party services. Some of those might lack the quality of the official. Some might even be better. :)

This might be too complex to implementate but something regarding the depreciation together with product quality, service quality and service pricing is something I would like to see in game.

In my opinion it could be a nice trade off between what does the servicing cost and how often you'll have to service you car vs. how long will your car last and how good it'll keep it's value. And this off course compared with your competitors.
