so i just went through a lot of stuff in my head, some books and wikipedia ..

1. will there be a choice in differentials? eg. open, closed, limited slip etc.
2. what drive choices will there be? usual front-front, front-rear, front-awd, mid-rear and rear-rear? or something more exotic like, rear-front, rear-awd, mid-awd (not sure if possible in terms of space), mid-front?
3. in case of AWD & 4WD, will there be diffrences like they are in real life? eg. 4WD uses a transfer box which in terms reduces engine effiency and provides quite a power loss to the road

First, this is what I think they understood from the almighty creators of the game. I'm giving my answers compared to other question which have been answered before.

1. I dont think so to be honest. Doesn't really add value to the game YET. Maybe later on you can research this stuff and create better parts for your cars to participate in races with etc.
2. Atleast I think the standard ones like FF FR FAWD MR and RR (RR mostly used in older cars like beetle and old Fiat 500). Maybe in DLC some exotic stuff?
3. Dont know about that one. I think if it adds value to the game, it will be added and researchable. But it is still a tycoon game so it won't be in too deep probably.

I don't think a rear-engine front-wheel-drive layout makes sense for example, as there were almost no production cars with that. But well things can change continously

And for everything else: Lets see what the future delivers!

The Mid-Front layout,(engine-gearbox-axle) has been made i reality. Cord had that in several models in the '30:s. :geek:

And if you are picky, the Merc SLS is a (front)Mid-Rear layout, as is the AC Cobra.
The engine on those is behind the front axle, thereby making it "Mid" engined. :ugeek:

1. Yes, this will make a fair handling and performance difference when building high performance cars, so it's pretty important.
2. For the first release, just Front RWD and front FWD, but in the end I'd say rear RWD, rear AWD, Mid RWD, Mid AWD, Front AWD, Front 4WD too (also answers question 3),
3. See above, Yes. Very important differences between building for example a Landcruiser and a WRX, completely different 4WD/AWD system, used for very different reasons.

and btw, to add a bit to drivetrain topic..

gearboxes - CVTs? i did experiment a little with ecoengines and found that revving to 2-3kRPM really works in some cases, i can't think of any other gearbox than a CVT to couple the engine like that to

Fairly likely, we shall see. If not straight away then eventually at least.
