Gearbox Designer

Will it eventually be part of the engine designer or will it be it's own separate thing when it is released? I always find myself pretending my engines are going through the gears in the manual test mode so will we be able to test our engines with the gearbox? Maybe space can be the clutch, A can be Upshift, and Z can be Downshift, and the mouse can control the throttle? Just throwing idea's out there because I have nothing better to do at the moment.

Re: Gearbox Designer

They tested a gearbox designer but all the testers thought it was boring so it will not be implented to the game, there will be a separete market for buying gearboxes (not 100% sure tho read it a long time ago)

But i do the same in engine designer! :D But i dont think they will implent it as it would take alot of time and would not be an important factor, maybe in the sequel ;)

Re: Gearbox Designer

In the Car Designer there will be one section / tab (like currently for instance "Top End") which focuses on the Gearbox design. It will probably be a bit like the aspiration tab is right now, with preset buttons and fine controls in addition to choosing type, number of ratios, etc. So we've turned away from the idea of having a separate designer and a gearbox market, instead we consider it a buy-in part, like currently the fuel system, and let you customize it to your liking.

I think this is a good idea, there are very few people who actively enjoy fine-tuning gear ratios! :P
