Bore and Stroke limitation
Posted: Fri Sep 21, 2012 9:12 pmI'm trying to recreate a BMW S65 V8 (M3 E92 engine), but unfortunately I can't get the Bore and Stroke sizes I want in the same engine block size.
If I choose Large I can only go down to a 76mm Stroke, which is the size I'd want to achieve a 92mm Bore, but I need a 75.2mm Stroke.
Likewise if I choose Medium, the maximum Bore is limited to 88mm? I think the issue is the overlap between the engine block sizes.
If you look at where Small ends and Medium begins, there's only a 3mm margin in Bore and a 6mm margin in Stroke.
The problem is, how long is a piece of string? This could go on forever, till we have 1mm Bore in Extra large and 150mm Bore in Small, but without being too extreme, I suggest that the margins could be increased a bit more, my engine for example would only need 1mm of room in the Large for Stroke, or 4mm of room for Bore in Medium.

There are NO block-sizes anymore: instead you can move bore & stroke within 30% of each other between 50mm and 120mm.
