Engine size and Economy

Will engine size effect the cars economy/mpg. Like a 1.4Lv and a 2L Inline 4 that have the same economy in engine designer/Dyno, if put in the same care will they both get the same mpg or will the 1.4L version get better mpg since it's smaller. Also will we be able to sell engines to other car companies like how we can buy engines from other companies.

Re: Engine size and Economy

the 1.4 or 2.0 engine can be made that, even if they weight more, they can still have the same economy. According to the car you design and how much it weights, it can change. if a lower HP car has to push the same weight as a high power one, economy might be changing according to that.

About selling engines, that has been asked several times. Search the forums.

Re: Engine size and Economy

Larger capacity and higher power engines will use more fuel, even with the same economy stat in the engine designer. A large powerful V8 would need to cruise with a very closed throttle, making the engine waste lots of energy sucking air. A tiny I4 that can cruise with the throttle open further will be more economical, and an engine that cruised at wide open throttle would be the most economical (it'd just have no spare power to accelerate with)
