Mid engine hatchback

To Dev team,

Would it be possible to implement the ability to choose different engine placements in the same body (and same car family i.e extra variants of the same car)? I'm thinking along the lines of the Renault Clio mk2, normal front engined hatchback but then they decided to mount a V6 where the rear seats would be to serve as a limited production halo model to increase brand awareness/prestige.

I found a couple of body mods for a mid engined hatchback, but since they are different bodies to the equivalent front engined version, I don't think you can make them as extra variants of the same car family:

Re: Mid engine hatchback

That;s an interesting idea, but slightly unrealistic in the grand scheme of things. It could also lead to some unfairly good cars. I don't suppose it would be implemented in the vanilla game.

I'm sure that if you asked a modder nicely (not me, I can't mod), they would be able to do a mid-engine variant on almost any car.

Re: Mid engine hatchback

Somewhere in the Model / Trim choices and differences we have to draw the line, unfortunately it is there exactly. You will not be able to make a Trim with a different engine placement, that requires a new Model. :)

Re: Mid engine hatchback

Agreed.
When the mid engine MG Metro R64 Group B rally car was created it was only superficially similar to the actual production model. Pretty much the only thing they shared was the name and the doors.
Although they made about 200 of them the satisfy the homologation rules at the time.

Re: Mid engine hatchback

It could probably be possible to make an other car body family that is MR.

You wouldn't have the advantage of having your front-engined and mid-engined cars within the same family, but you would be able to make some mid-engine hatch madness :D
