In-house tuning shops?

I was wondering if in-house tuning shops would play a role in the final version of the tycoon mode. It is obvious that we could just label certain models and such as a tuning shop version, but I think it would be cool to unlock tuning shops with R&D and have the models from the tuning shop get an automatic increase in prestige. let me know if it is a cool idea.

Re: In-house tuning shops?

You will most likely be able to make a sub-brand that sells beefed up versions of your main brand's cars if you want (with more powerful engines for example)... but that has little to do with what you seem to have in mind. Note that this is not about tuning cars but cars straight out of factories. A sticker saying "Fin Deisel Approved" doesn't give you any prestige benefit unless you have produced good cars with that sticker on.

That is cool, I get that. But you have to admit an STi, an M3, or an AMG would not be as prestigious without those badges.

Re: In-house tuning shops?

Right, but if you've been making good or great models labeled with your in-house tuning brand, and then you have one that isn't quite on the same level, the previous positive image won't be immediately dumped, so you'll still have a significant prestige gain, even if you've only got a mediocre car this time. More than one sub-par example in a row, however, and you'd start to see a significant drop.

Re: In-house tuning shops?

Every brand and sub-brand will have their own brand prestige and reputation anyway, so what you describe will happen in the game as it is planned.

not to make a new topic - what about road legality?

the ride height is too low, no lights etc.

Re: In-house tuning shops?

The only road legality things we'll definitely have in the game is emission limits and minimum safety requirements. Definitely there won't be any requirement for lights because that is cosmetic only in the game and we don't want to force people into having to place non-functional things they don't care about.
