New engine types/historical fixes

UAs this game is in development, I won't complain too much. But as a car history buff, I have a couple of small things, such as adding "Valve in block" (T head, flathead, whatever you prefer), and this would be for all ages. Deletion of OHV pre 1950, as it didn't exist. Pushing back MPFI and SPFI injection models at about 5 years each (my Camry has MPFI) and the engine came out in 1986 and had MPFI. Also on fuel Injextion, adding "Electronic injection" in the mid 60s,costing more than carberettors but cheaper and more reliable than mechanical, but still worse reliability and power over single point.

Side valves have been discussed many times and rejected due to the need to totally redo the art and animation for a tech only around for 15 years ingame. Buick was using OHV since the 30's so that part is wrong.all technology can be unlocked up to 15 years early, if you invest you company's time and money into it, with the use of R&D which is not yet implemented. It will work like you said at reduced reliability and efficiency.

Actually the OHV as we know it was patented in 1949 so you COULD say it was developed earlier and COULD have been in production much earlier if it were not for a pesky war getting in the way of engine research. The starting point for the fuel injection techs is the year of "common knowledge", I can point to cars still using carbs in the 90s for a reason to push back fuel injection until 1994. If this game were to get a DLC for 1900-1940 THEN I could understand having L/F/T heads but for our time frame? No, the tech used right now is good for balance and gameplay.

Well, I do know that EFI began to be regularly available on some American cars as early as the mid '70s(and Chrysler and AMC both had special edition models that used an early form of it in 1957-58!), so I think you could plausibly make the case for pushing SPFI back to about 1981 or so(and MPFI to about 1986, like with your Camry, especially as a few American cars, like the ZR-1 Corvette, had MPFI before 1992), with the Cadillac Seville pioneering it when it came out for '75.

I don't think valve-in-block would be quite worth the effort at this time, however, unless the mods and/or some volunteers come out with DLC that lets you build cars starting in 1900, as BlastersPewPew pointed out.
