seats tweaking and minor graphical bug

i hope to write it on right section so 2 smaller things i think is good to give a look

1) with my engines on the coupe (the last 10 years selection,coupe, front engine) the engine head shows out of the hood with 5L v8 and i6 engines .

2)the sport seats has the same weight of the standard ones ,that could be fine but by increasing the quality they shoud be lighter not heavier (for the sport ones) in my opinion (btw 79.9kg is a lot as standard weight)

when making a new car family is there a way to change only lights wings ecc on the variant 2 because when i clik new variant and becomes 2 locks everithing except engine,color and transmission selection deleting the all the variants(except the original) unlocks the modifications but i would like to have some minor changes from one version to another (it' not a big deal just asking )

It's not just the seats it's the whole interior.
As for decreasing weight when increasing quality for sports interior:i'm with you but it has been discussed somewhere before and there was a sensible reason why it's not like that.

79kg is too heavy for seats? I think, unless it is front Sparco Racing seats only, it is probably too light. The seats in my compact car weigh at least that much, and probably closer to 100kg combined weight. The leather (SS model) seats I replaced them with weigh even more. Those are just the seats! You also have to consider interior panels, carpeting, dashboard, console, etc.

I disassemble and reassemble cars as my day job, and can confirm that the interior components of an average Japanese car are not particularly heavy apart from the seats and depending on the car, the floor mats.

Any seat with adjustable anything is surprisingly dense due to the steel frame inside, and even a lightweight sport bucket seat can easily tip 20kg per seat once put on rails.

On the other hand, the bench seats in the rear of most sedans are little more than upholstered cushions fastened to the body of the car.

ok just to clarify when i wrote the post i didn't remember the tab was interior and not only seats but in fact this dosen't change much mi vision better quality sport interiors today are carbon fibre and other high tech low weight solutions so basicaly more quality lower weight.

for the seats only weight i got many vehicles in my car park from an old fiat 126 to 52 passrnger gt busses so i think i now what medium weight a seat may have
for example a full original recaro set (2 seats ) for a vw corrado was around 38-40kg and was really comfortable
a bus/truck driver seat with added air/spring suspensions weights around 30kg
the bus passenger seats lays around 40kg in pairs (the comfortable ones)
the entire interior of the fiat 126 is around 50-60kg (2 seats without head hold 25-30kg(12/15kg each), rear bench 15kg to exagerate ,interior panels 2 x 0.5kg 2x0.3kg ecc..)

What we'd probably need is a "Race" interior, then.

That would essentially consist of a pair of lightweight bucket seats, harnesses, just enough padding to make sure occupants won't hit sharp objects in a crash, and little else.

This would enable us to emulate "stripped from the factory" vehicles such as the Porsche 911 Carrera RS, or extremely minimal interiors a la McLaren P1 GTR.

Race cars aren't really a problem. Because when you are making a race car you don't car about prestige. You can use the basic seats with -15 quality. But when you try to do a Ferrari style you end up sacrificing prestige and comfort for sportiness when in real life, having those carbon back leather seat is more prestigious than having a baquet like and Focus RS.

Besides. Carbon seats in the new sportscars weight much less then standard seats.

I commented on the other thread and I comment on this again. SportSeats(named lightweight before) should weight less with increased quality. And Quality sliders should mean more quality control, not that you are travelling to the future to bring better stuff.

Quality sliders =/= more quality control. And usually doing more quality control won't raise the quality of your product if your process is controlled properly.

And it definitively won't make you car safer, lighter or more powerful. Except if you had major QC issues that got through for some reason.

To get a bit nerdy here but if you control your process properly, doing more quality control is a waste of money. If the drawing asks for 10mm +/- 1mm, and after studies I discover that my machine does consistently a dimension of 10.02mm +/-.04mm, I can stop controlling that part dimensionally and it will make no difference in the quality of parts that come out of the machine.


And while IIRC the devs said it is a way to get future tech, you can see it an other way.

It means that you use more expensive components to make it better, or less expensive components making it worse.

For the interior for example, the standard interior represents what most forum members have in their cars, even though the interior of a Chevy Aveo and the interior of a Toyota Corolla of the same yeah are quite different in terms of quality, with the Aveo being very shit plastic and the whole thing having a lot of flex and creaking.

As we don't have a slider in-game that lets us control if we want good plastic or shit plastic, as well as sliders for tons of other mundane things. What I personally think in all similar situations is that either:
A- That thing is integrated into something else, like valve spring stiffness being integrated in the caminess slider.
B- It's integrated in the quality slider.

EXACTLY! Upping the quality slider should be like having the drawings say 10mm +/- 0.01mm instead of 10mm +/- 1mm.
(just had to mention quality control to get people thinking about what quality really is, what do you monitor when you do quality control?)

EDIT: Exactly for the same reason upping bottom end quality lowers the weight, it should be the same with sport seats.

Here is what my "Compact Car" looks like. It is most certainly not a 4m wheelbase. The whole car is 4.57m (180.3 inch), and the wheelbase is 2.62m (103.3 inch). It probably is heavy by non-American standards, as it weighs in at roughly 1300kg (~2800-2900 pounds), but it is also a steel car with a metal body (except front/rear fascia). It does have an aluminium block/head, however.

Is it a city car? No. I wouldn't want anything so small, for safety reasons. Almost everybody (here in America) drives an SUV, and in a tiny city car I'd be crushed. My car sits relatively low (~12cm), and I can't even see the traffic light 1 car ahead of me, if I'm not laid back 3-4 car lengths due to their height/size.
