Remove wing and lip limits

The lio and wing limit featur is lame. I see no point in it. It does nothing but limit designs... Why is it there?
Re: Remove wing and lip limits
Because you can build cars with unrealistically good aerodynamic performance by putting loads of separate wings on a car in a way that wouldn't be practical in reality.

Re: Remove wing and lip limits
Though, to add, killrob does say that the limit will be removed once the calculations have been rejigged to include engineering time, thus rendering it hugely impractical to put more than one (or two) lips and wings on a car at any one time, unless you're in sandbox mode and don't mind having a car that requires $5489274037647852987908536 of R&D costs

Re: Remove wing and lip limits
I can understand that being an exploit in the Tycoon mode, but sandbox mode is exactly what it says: a sandbox. Frankly, i enjoy maing extremely unrealistic cars and seeing how fudged up i can make them.
Re: Remove wing and lip limits
Frankly I'm really hoping it happens myself. I miss the days where my cars were putting out more downforce than a top fuel dragster

Re: Remove wing and lip limits
There is no good reason to keep the limit once we have engineering time in the game, no. So you probably will see a return to all-downforce cars

Hooray!!! (for everyone who uses lots of wings.

There actually was a reason for the limit. It was an exploit not only in tycoon, but in sandbox as well. You could put tons of wings on a car, get incredible downforce, and very limited drag.

Re: Remove wing and lip limits
Uh jack, how can it be an exploit in tycoon mode if tycoon doesn't exist yet?
Haha jokes, but more seriously the phrasing may be confusing for newer people: it's because tycoon mode isn't finished and the calculations aren't finalised, meaning there is no disincentive whatsoever apart from the ridiculous time it takes to whack on 80 wings, which has a big impact on race tournaments. Also, you could feasibly exploit the aero in performance oriented car scenarios.

How can it be an exploit in sandbox mode? Sandbox is all about screwing around.

Sandbox is indeed about screwing around, but NOT about playing with game breaking options.
Re: Remove wing and lip limits
True, but there's always going to be somebody who finds a way to break things

You're right. In pure sandbox mode, it makes no real difference. But with community challenges, it allowed some cars to add infinite lips with almost no cost for submissions to contests, making them impossible to balance. I know you're thinking, "Just don't allow it for the challenge," but it isn't so easy to determine if it was used and to go through many cars to check was just hard on those hosting challenges. This was the solution, as it allowed unrealistic physics with no cost associated. The devs have said it will go away once the physics match the cost, so just hold on while they fix it.
In other words, deal with it. This is life!
