Though it has nothing to do with the game, I think it'd be neat if you could implement some kind of upvote feature into the forum (something like the one reddit uses for example).

Even more importantly, a downvote feature would be useful for those posts that are within the forum rules, but everyone knows that they are terrible.

I second both these suggestions! There are some amazing posts here, and some equally stupid ones, but I'm not sure if anything can be custom implemented into a phpBB forum, it could be possible.

The amount of times I have come out with the comment "we need a thanks button or something like that" is countless. I definitely would like to see this implemented.

phpBB is very customizable, actually. You can simply import modules and it works.
I even have the link right here:
https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2155244Only problem: phpBB have been attacked several days ago and they are now trying to make everything more secure etc. So we have to wait to implement this.

Is there also a way to track who has upvoted and downvoted what, to monitor for massive downvote spam abuse?

I dont think this is the community to just 'spam downvotes' when not necessary. Though, I see this might occur on people asking for new engines in the game without searching and such.
It can go either way: People see the downvotes and start to think (also other people) but what is the chance they can think if they asked the question anyway?
It can also set people off of joining our community.
There is some positive and negative effects, thats why Facebook for instance never really had a Dislike button. If you didnt like it you commented why or just scrolled ahead.
To me an upvote-only sounds good enough to exclude negativity.

Yeah, I don't think we need a downvote feature. As Wizzy said, Facebook never had one because it causes too many problems.

An upvote feature would be pretty good, although I don't fully see how it'd be useful in the forum? Could you sort threads by upvotes, or how would anyone benefit from this?

yes, something like that I guess Killrob. You can show what posts are good and which arent. Its not that huge of an improvement, but it works I think.

I read recently that Mark Zuckerberg is seriously looking into implementing the dislike feature, simply because a lot of people want it. It probably won't happen. They'll probably be another feature that nobody wants, nobody will use and nobody cares about. That, or more ads. To be honest, it is posts like "my grandmother just died" that need a seperate button. It is not something I feel you "like".
I have been on many forums with an upvote/thanks/like button at the bottom of every post, and they are just there to be there. I believe it just shows appreciation without having to get everybody post the same "thank you" related post over and over again.

Personally, I think it would just create a better user experience. Its nice to know you're talking to real people who respect your opinion etc by up voting, and you're not just talking to a computer screen.
