Advancing Time In-Game

In regards to the method of advancing time in game, I think Sports Mogul did it very well. Here is an example of their time-advancing menu:

I suggest something like this for the single player mode. Of course, the "Opening Day", "Ameteur Draft", and "Playoffs" will be replaced with more relevant terms.

Time in automation will be continuous, not discrete... so I'm not sure how that would play out.

A solution that has been discussed is pausable real-time gameplay, with the ability to speed up/slow down the simulator as needed.
