Future techs

Bad english.

Game ends in 2020, yes? So... May you add some "nano"alloys, some techs, that can't be real now(without required technology level)? Not Hovercars, or something like that. Just some little improvments, which allow you to make engines more powerful or more economical.

The automotive industry is not really doing huge jumps. 2020 is just 6 years from now and for example carbon fiber, being available for some 20 years already, just starts being used in more affordable production cars. I don't expect anything extraordinary to happen material-wise in the next 6 years. That material would have been used for years already by now then.

Well the only interesting techs would be Fiats Multiair or Koenigsegg Free Valve Technology in the top end department. But thats about it... and the implementation of those would mean a very high effort.
They are interesting from a technical point, and do differ from the normal valvetrains, but they still are in a very early stage and they wont make a really huge leap in the next years. Its expensive and complicated like hell.

The sames with ceramic, carbon or silicon-carbide pistons. NASA experimented with them in 1994 - so for the car industry they may get interesting in 10 years or so. Source

In the rest like fuelsystems or exhaust systems you won't see big changes in the next years. I doubt that there will be something better than direct injection, you just can make it better and better.

last thing i've read about this is that they are starting to concider implementing this in production (not mentioning when), but it isn't really that complex as i understood the system, but to code it into the game i imagine would be very-, if not extremely complicated. the IRL version is basicly just air driven actuators and a secondary ECU to control opening and closing times. air is generated from a compressor bolted on the engine, or a buildt in compressor. (do we se the next stage of a 6-stroke engine come alive here?)

Koenigsegg has run a test system of this on a stock SAAB 9-5 estate turbo (Petrol) the last.. 5-7 years or so, using a modifyed version of the original cylinder head, and according to themselves, has run problem free the entire time. exciting technology :D

Still as KillRob said, i believe there isnt going to be some sort of major 'breakthrough' as of yet. Maybe more electric cars, but thats for later.

there is still an option for DLCs and i really doubt that guys will move on to a new project forgeting about their first brain child

I know, I know! Science isn't quick at all. But... Well, deep in my heart I want to build a car of my dream. I want to make everything perfect as possible. So, I spend much time in Automation in engine, suspension settings. But I can't reach ideal.
I'm a fan of X-COM series. There was some unscientific stuff, like lasers, alien alloys. It made my heart beat faster. So, I don't ask to invent new fuel supplying method, no. Just a little bit improvments, like new alloy(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbotanium, like that), that makes, for example, engine, which weighs 110 kg with Magnesium and AlSi, will weigh 90 kg with this alloys, and will be strong enough, new catalytic converter, that don't make emissions at all.
I know, it's kinda hard to make this, but it would be a present for people like I - who want to make perfect engine, but still don't satisfied by now :(

I think I wouldn't lie if I say that the whole team likes this kind of stuff as well, but you have to consider the gameplay implications of such an addition. There is a lot going on tech-wise in the later stages of the game already, with new materials and especially fuel systems. I don't see the need for more choice there and think it would actually be detrimental to the game as a whole (more things to balance, more complexity, more work). I don't think going down that route is beneficial to Automation.

Yeah, you right. And making it in sandbox is kinda senseless.
But, despite the fact that I'm a little saddened by this, but i'm happy that I'm not alone in this stuff! Thanks anyway!
